Is it possible to change the gearing?

I have an 800R that I use on my farm for farm work but it is so hyper it is very difficult in among lots of trees and towing a trailer. Low gear is too low and high gear is too high. Is it possible to change the gearing by modifying the clutch weights or something. Ideally I would make the gearing lower. I am guessing that making the weights a little lighter would cause the clutch to close at higher revs.

Am I talking rubbish or is this possible?

I already have the tan spring to lower the take up speed but have not installed it yet.

Tug hill ny

Plan on making my 2nd trip up to Tug Hill. The first time we rode mainly "the commons" area. Since my younger daughter is going up this trip, we plan on going back to that area to ride. Is there any other "must see" or "must ride" areas up there that my daughter would be ok riding on. Id like to see a little more of the tug hill trail system.

Thanks

Random washer while changing out timing chain on 02 400ex

Hi all. Thought i was already a memebr but guess not. As the title says i am replacing the timing chain on an 02 400ex. Removed the cover, clutch assembly, and oil pump. I removed old chain and replaced with the new chain (02 crf 450). While everything was out i grabbed a rag/paper towel that i had by the machcine to wipe out the oil from the bottom of the case when i hear what sounds like a small piece of metal drop and i see a small washer sitting on the bottom of the case. Problem is im not short a washer?!? Possibly it could have been stuck on the rag but i didnt remove a washer that looked like this. Ive been through the manual, parts schematics, forums but still no luck. Everything is back together minus putting the case on and im not missing anything (i think). The OD is 3/4", the ID is 7/16" and it is a little thicker than the avg washer. One side is completely black and the other side has a small silver ring as you can see below as if it seats on somthing smaller. Thank you in advance and any help is greatly appreciated!

New Guy

Bought a Ace 570 base model, I’ve ridden Motorcycles all my life (I am 66) and some recent surgery left some scar tissue making it hard to get on and off a bike.

So I bought the Ace for my planned trip to Utah and ride a few of the trails there.

I hope to learn from you guys who have been doing ATV’s for awhile.. Name is Bob.

2014 700 EFI EPS Sputtering/Stalling/Weakness

Was riding this past weekend, in an area I’ve rode a lot prior and after a couple of hours my machine fell on its face and it was all I could do to get it off the 50" trail and back to a main trail.

It would sputtter, backfire, take off like normal, then do it all over again….repeatedly for at least 2 miles until I hit that main trail and it finally died at an idle. I let it sit while I cooled down in the shade and then it restarted fine and got me the 10+ miles back to the truck, hasn’t done it since.

Elev was around 8700ft., Grizz has 715 miles (88hrs) on it, never missed a service, Air temp was in the upper 80’s to mid-90’s.

I’ve done a lot of reading, mostly the searches turn up threads about the rollover vent thing, tank pressurization and boiling gas…I can’t confirm that the gas boils in mine but it does sound like it sometimes when I stop. A couple threads also talked about the TPS.

The person I ride with the most has the same bike but his is the black SE with about 200 less miles…he was with me and did not experience the issue himself.

So, what is known to cause the stalling/sputtering issue on this new a ATV or on the EFI Grizzlies in general? It acted or felt like a spark or fuel pump issue to me, but if the plug were fouled it wouldn’t have fixed itself after a short recess.

Any thoughts?

**In addition to that, both of those bikes started doing the "4wd turn on by itself" thing prior to the trip while loading them on the trailer. I took apart the switches and cleaned them, and they acted fine on the trail.**
