Maine Highlands

The new Grizz is giving me an excuse to finally go out and explore the trails around my camp, and there are a LOT of them! Camp is on Schoodic Lake in Lakeview Plantation (Brownville). I’ve been around the area my whole life, but never had an ATV I felt comfortable heading out for the day on. Plus I think the ATV clubs in the area are getting much better. Once I get familiar, maybe we can plan a group ride out of my camp, or there is a nice campground close by
Here’s a trail map, sorry for the low res:

Mandatory Grizzly shot:

Buddy on my old Rincon:

Oh yeah, some good fishing up there too:

Thanks,
Craig

new sportsman 850

many of you have seen my posts from the past and know ive been hard on Polaris. i think they have had a little more quality issues then i think is necessary and have voiced my opinion on that quite often. now me personally, ive never held onto or ridden a quad long enough recently to have any real issues. i was going by mostly forums and very little personal experience to be honest. i have had many quads over the years with many being Polaris. i recently got rid of my rzr not because i hated it, I’m just more of a quad guy.

with all that said i just picked up a brand new 2016 sportsman 850. i only put a handful of miles on it before it down poured here, but here are some of my thoughts so far. this quad is deceptively fast and powerful. the power is so smooth that you don’t realize how fast you’re actually going. it steers really easy, even without power steering. turning radius seems to not be as tight as the old chassis sportsmans, but still good enough. the ride is plush as expected. the shifter is a bit notchy, but then again it might loosen up as it breaks in. i really like the look of the new 17 models, but not much beyond ergonomics and looks changed so i didn’t wait and got the 16′. so far i really like the quad and i plan on holding onto this one and i hope no gremlins pop up. i figured they had the 850 for a while and SHOULD have everything pretty much sorted by now. let’s hope so! overall i really like the quad

Clutch inlet

I have one last piece to complete my 2000 325 magnum. I found a hose connection with a boot right behind the belt box. I *think* it is the clutch inlet based on the parts manuals I’ve seen, but wanted to ask if any of you think it could be something else? Part number 5433363 is what I found, and I don’t see one that looks like it on the machine. I’ll post a pic tomorrow. Thanks

98 TRX300 Front Brake Rebuild

I just bought a 98 TRX 300 2×4 and it runs great, but it has no brakes. So far I am working on getting the front brakes to work. I have already ordered a new master cylinder assembly since it doesn’t function and the bolts were broken off. I have torn into the front drums and 90% off the internals are trashed. I believe they are the original parts and there is very little that is left to salvage or rebuild. I am pretty much going to replace everything. So far I have to priced out to about $340.

Is there a better option than ordering the Honda OEM parts for $340?
