Got a warning for hot engine the other day on the dash. Turned the machine off and then turned the key to the on position for the fan to cool it off. The fan started normally and then began to reduce in rpm. This happened in about 5 seconds. Any ideas?

I have a 2007 sportsman 500 that all of a sudden quit running. I was told that one of the kids put gas in it from a random can, supposedly smelled and looked like gas, and shortly after that it quit running all together. I drained the gas from the tank and put new gas in with some seafoam and still no fire. I checked the spark and its good. I could get it to fire if I sprayed starter fluid in the air box but it only runs for a second or two before dying again. I took the throttle body apart and cleaned it out with carb cleaner and still the same scenario. I took the fuel filter off and it pours out both ends so I don’t think there is a clog there. I took the fuel hose off the fuel rail to the injector and when I hit the start button gas comes out so I "assume" that the fuel pump is ok. More of a carb guy than fuel injection and throttle body so I am kind of at a loss. Can someone please give me an idea or at least a direction to go in. Thanks

I just bought a non-running 2000 sportsman 500 as a fall project to get it going again. I gave it a good bath, cleaned it up and then checked the fluids and found no oil on the rear yellow dipstick in the Trans? My question is do these leak? There was a dirty oily film all over the back side of the belt cover when I washed it. Actually the entire machine was filthy but that side was the worse.
What can I check for before I invest in expensive AGL fluid.
FYI, It was non-running because the Bendix exploded and busted the pull start case. The previous owner ordered a new Bendix and used side cover and parked it for 2+ years then sold it to me.
