2004 Predator 50 No Spark

Hey guys, I hoping that you can help point me in the right direction. I picked up a 2004 Predator 50 from a neighbor that has been sitting for a couple of years. I was told that the neighbor tried cleaning the carb and after that point he couldn’t get the machine to run. Why he took apart the carb, I don’t know.

So, I hooked up a new battery and the only sign of life that I get is the engine oil light is on. Brake light doesn’t work, and it’s a new bulb. The horn doesn’t work either.

I’m really a novice when it comes to this kind of electrical issues. I was probing wire to see what had juice when I hit one (in a red harness) that initiated the stator and starter but I don’t have any spark. I changed the plug. I have cleaned the safety harness with no change. I accessed the stator but honestly don’t know how the measure the resistance. I also don’t know how to test the CDI, voltage regulator, coil, ASM Resistor, or starter relay.

Any suggestion on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have a response, dumb it down for the every day guy that’s trying to learn a few things.

26 or 28 inch tire

I am new to owning a atv and have been reading different forums on this subject but yet to find the answer I’m looking for to go forth with a decision. First, I just purchased 2013 sportsman 500. I know can put 26 on with no problem. I ‘ve read that a 28 would fit but may rub with a 4 3 ratio on a new rim. I go to the local shop and they tell me that if I go to a 28 that they would need to put a clutch kit in it and a lift also to fit properly. Is the clutch kit just because of an oversize tire so that’ll ride the same as factory?? It’s a big decision and would like to be steered the right way and not just that they want more $$$$$ thanks for any help…..
