I recently bought an 05 predator 500 off craigslist for cheap. Got it home and fired it up. Runs great with no engine issues. Shortly after realized that every time I shift from 1st to 2nd it acts like it’s in neutral. Shift up again and it’s in 3rd. It seems 2nd gear is gone. I don’t hear any grinding noises. Has anyone had this issue or can anyone help me?

I just finished mounting badlands 3500lb winch to my 2015 sportsman 850. When I tried to run the winch I get a clicking at the solenoid but nothing to the actual winch. Can anyone please help me??

I recently purchased this oldie, but goodie and have had a few problems with it so far. Replaced fuel pump recently. Now we have an overheating problem that is causing safety shut off to engage and cut off the motor while riding. Once it cools down for awhile it starts right back up. I can feel the heat coming off the motor. Fan is not engaging and was at one point only when motor was off and key was on. Never heard it engaging while riding and doesn’t turn on at all now. Also, while riding, just before it dies, it starts cutting out. Sometimes you can throttle through, but eventually you can throttle all you want and it just peters out. Then wait…. Always starts back up eventually. Just can’t ride it long, super bummer seeing as how it’s hunting season in my neck of the woods. 🙁
So I believe I might have two or more problems going on here. Researched in this forum and I know I need to run some diagnostics and see if Fan Control is working and CDI and maybe even temp sensor. However, I decided I should just replace all these, but cannot seem to find replacement parts for the fan control or CDI. Where do you all find these parts? Also, not sure what the cutting out is before it dies, possible fuel obstruction, or is it part of the oil temp safety?
I’m hoping I didn’t get in too deep with this thing. I grew up riding one of these and that’s why I bought this one, I know they are good machines. Keeping my fingers crossed I can get it running good! 🙂
