I was given a 99 or 00 (350 se?) Fourtrax that the guy bought 5 years ago and said he drove it a couple hours once and it’s sat in the backyard since and have a few questions for people familiar with these.
-do you think I can get away with just changing the fluids/lube/tune? Is their anything I should look at or for?
-my right hand doesn’t work so have to mod a left hand throttle. Has anyone done a mod like that on one of these? Is their a kit? Is it possible just to swap the controls across?(did that with my current quad)
-what is an automatic clutch? Never came across one before. Would the clutch interfere or make the left hand throttle hard to use?
I have a 2013 1000cc Outlander max and it is burning more fuel than it normally does. They only thing that I have done to it lately is put a new suspension on it which are the fox podium shocks. So I know that can’t be the problem. I went on my usual ride that I have taken many times before and the last couple of times it’s seem to burn at least three more bars of fuel taking the same route. The quad seems to be running fine. I’ve driven it in the same temperatures as I am now, I don’t smell any fuel out of the exhaust while it’s running and I have not noticed any fuel leaks. It does have a bit of a rough idle when I first started in cooler temperatures (-7°C). But that is only the first minute to the oil start circulating in the engine warms up a little bit which for my quad is normal at that temperature.
I have never adjusted the valves and the quad has almost 6000 km on it but I do not hear any tapping from the valves. I just put a new air filter in it and change the oil as well as spark plugs. There is also no engine codes coming up either. Also I am using the same gas as I always have.
If someone could help me and steer me in the right direction here that would be greatly appreciated.
I have 2016 Rubicon w/ 21 hours, I have had this prob with the fault malfunction – flashing,it want shift into gear, makes no sound,I turn it on and off , rock it back and forth, not temp sensitive,if it does go into gear then it goes into fault – then its in gear and want restart with – flashing, took it in to my dealer thought was still in warranty, It was out by 8 days, my fault thinking thats just part of dealing with the es, The dealer said the oxygen sensor was making it go into fault mode ,flashing -, I didn’t believe it,still Dont believe thats what was wrong, They said they were going try and get Honda do goodwill, said they would cover it that the atv still looked new,I even took my cover because they set them outside untill they work on them, its never been in the mud or even rained on. got it back working then next day it stopped, found manual on line did the dia, it has code 42, when thru all the connections etc, reset the computer , it clicked about 2 times then went back to fault 42, called Honda they said I need take it back, they wold document i, They acted like they were the one that would authorize the good will warranty after the dealer ck’s it out. Then Honda said it was up to the dealer and the locall Honda regional rep named Sam to do a goodwill warranty, with it being out of warranty Im betting they want cover it, especially after guessing at the oxygen sensor. im guessing its in the harness, shift motor/sen,ecm. Ive read the angle sensor could cause it but with the code 42?
what do youall think?
Im guessing Ill end up having to fix it myself, going thru the steps in the manual.etc.
my four wheeler was running fine until i got the idea to use to to pull a 1000 lbs tractor back into the barn. other then riding the clutch i didn’t think i was doing any harm. However now it shifts through all 5 gears but doesn’t accelerate at all. in 5th gear its going about as fast as it should in 1st. it reminds me of a vehicle with a clogged catalytic converter. any suggestions on repairs??

Hey does anyone know what all is involved with the 50 hour service for the 2016 outty 1k xmr? Just wondering if it’s something I can do myself because I’m a tech for Toyota and I’ve worked on atvs and cars and trucks and motorcycles pretty much my whole life and not just doing breaks and oil changes but motor swaps and other in depth mechanics, thanks any info will be helpful and also how much of a pain in the rear is it taking off and putting the cvt cover? Some of my buddies says it’s a nightmare and they always seem to have leaks but I think I’m getting a leak now on the bottom side of the cvt box were the bolts are the farthest away from each other around the hump!
From Jacksonville Florida and if anyone around the area is looking for a group to ride with let me know cause I found the coolest atv/sxs club in the south!
