which outlander to get??

I have been a honda man my entire life, but have recently decided to make the switch due to the overwhelming good reviews for the can am. i have narrowed it down to two machines. A 2016 outlander l 570 dps and an outlander 570 max stock. The price is 100 dollars apart. I really want the dps but my wife does ride with me a few times a year and I do have two small children who could possibly ride with me on the max in a year or two. Ive been back and forth on this for days. Is the max tough to steer without the dps? Is the dps one too good to pass up? tough one for me. Any input is appreciate! thanks

Recoil/pull start 2015 sportsman 400

I have tried searching but for some reason the search does not work and Google doesn’t seem to find anything. A couple years ago I bought a new 2015 sportsman 400. Nothing fancy, just for hunting. It only gets ridden a couple times a year. Last year the battery was dead but was able to replace under warranty. Fast forward to last month I go to start it and the new battery is dead, charged it and everything was good that weekend then last weekend it was dead again. I know letting it sit for extended periods of time they will drain but not having a backup pull start is annoying. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket pull start kit for these? I keep the bike 4 hours away so I don’t ride regularly and spends most of the time sitting. Was thinking about putting a battery maintainer on it but so don’t like the fact that there is no backup in case the battery dies and there is no way to start it

2012 Sportsman 800 belt issues

I bought a 2012 sportsman 800 back in 2012 and is absolutely amazing, besides the belt. I do have 28 inch gorilla silverbacks, outlaw mudder clutch, and tons of more upgrades. I have replaced the belt hundreds of times and it kinda ridiculous. I went out riding last weekend and only lasted about 20 mins. Does anyone know what kind of belt I should get to last longer?

idles fine but stalls when in gear.any ideas??

I have a 2013 foreman 500 stock that is used for trail riding and taking corn to deer stands. no deep mud or water. Nothing done except for oil change and has always been reliable. Last week my dad was taking corn out and it stalled on him.Cranked back up and bogged down but got it back to the house. No backfiring or spitting just stalled and then loss of power like it wanted to stall. not showing any codes. Today I changed oil and drained tank and checked the tank screen, there was a little bit of gunk at the very bottom but not much at all.I cleaned the air filter a little dust inside the box but no water or oil. I drove it today and it idles fine for atleast 5 minutes. it takes off fine then starts to bog down. It would bog down and i would let off gas then down shift and go a little bit then it would bog down again. I’m new to the efi atv and not sure where to look next. My thought is that if it was a fuel filter in the fuel pump assembly it would also have gunk at the screen is this correct? what else could it be? I ned to plant food plots this week so i’m hoping to get it going.

Heat shield install post

Hi guys here is the post for the DIY heat install/ heat reduction. Fairly simple and easy mod to do, to make that next ride more enjoyable.
Ok first thing is to remove side plastics and heat shield from left side. Once done go get yourself from ebay or local speed shop a 5 meter / 15 foot roll of heat wrap tape the cheap stuff is just as good as the most expensive stuff. Grab a few stainless steel cable ties as well in case your Flea Bay kit doesn’t come with them. Next is to soak the heat wrap for a few minutes in warm water and then apply from header section towards the can at the back. Now it took a few goes for me to get tight but if you take the time it will be worth it. As I did each section I used the cable ties to finish each section then I would double wrap the in-between sections over the springs connections. There is no need to do the rear section behind the rear guard I only went to the muffler slip on joint as its a waste to go further back.

After finishing the wrap I went to town on the plastics with heat Aluminium tape and reinforced tape. I did everything on the left side double and triple overlay as you can see from the photos. The tape was around 30 bucks Australian but I am sure it will be cheaper over your way. But all it cost me was less than 100 dollars and about two hours of work. Just watch your hands with the wet fiberglass wrap as your hands will take a beating being wet and having so many sharp edges you will get a few scrapes.
Oh and I borrowed my works cable gun for the stainless ties as that’s the most expensive part to get the ties really tight. Or you can persist with pliers and a set of nips.
Ok so what’s it like when I put it back together? It’s great. Heaps better with the heat wrap and tape, I can use shorts and (thongs / flip-flops for you yanks…lol….) no worries it has reduced the heat to about 85% of what it was before.
So ……for 2 hours work less than a 100 bucks and a half case of beer and I now have an awesome bike I can hunt on and go trailing or mudding with no heat problems.
I hope this post has been helpful?
Cheers mates.

Considering a XP1000 2017

Recently sold my 570 Sportsman and am considering the 1000XP

My 570 had a huge list of issues with it for the couple years I owned it, broken axles, cracked frame, clutch/belt issues, everytime Id go over a bump id hear a clunking noise did that since new but awfully annoying, I also had to replace the front diff in it as well….

From what I have read on the xp1000s if the pinion cover breaks but that can be upgraded with an aluminum piece but haven’t heard of issues on the 16s or 17s with that, and the other thing i read was the exhaust melting the plastics on the exhaust but that was hit or miss….

I like the idea of the storage and 90hp on the 1000 but dont issues like this 570 had and I was considering buying a 700 Grizzly but it only has 4 more hp then the 570

Fourtrax ATV assistance!

I was given a 99 or 00 (350 se?) Fourtrax that the guy bought 5 years ago and said he drove it a couple hours once and it’s sat in the backyard since and have a few questions for people familiar with these.

-do you think I can get away with just changing the fluids/lube/tune? Is their anything I should look at or for?

-my right hand doesn’t work so have to mod a left hand throttle. Has anyone done a mod like that on one of these? Is their a kit? Is it possible just to swap the controls across?(did that with my current quad)

-what is an automatic clutch? Never came across one before. Would the clutch interfere or make the left hand throttle hard to use?
