1993 Honda Fourtrax 300 4×4 preventative maintenance

Hi, I just recently bought a 1993 Honda Fourtrax 300 4×4. It was just sitting in front of someone’s house with a for sale sign and they wanted it gone. It looked pretty rough with the plastic in rough shape, it had no battery, I kicked it over one time and it started right up. I test drove it and it shifted through all the gears and appeared to be running great.

I just got done repairing the plastic and wrapped it in camo and black and it almost looks new.

Drained the fuel and replaced with new.

Changed the fluids in the engine and all gear boxes

I took it up hunting and rode it pretty hard for about a hour and a half and it runs excellent. These old Honda’s are pretty amazing machines.

My questions is since the machine is over 22 years old and I am assuming very little if any regular maintenance has been performed on it what things should I check, inspect and replace in order of importance to have a well running and reliable machine, thanks.

2007 Sportsman 700 Vtwin EFI running bad

What’s up guys so I’ve been having problems lately and I found 1 of the problems but now I need to find out why is causing that problem. So randomly riding my bike after a few hours It starts running on 1 cylinder so finally I saw it was my spark plugs manily my right cylinder spark plug is black I will post pictures so you can see the difference of both so I change them and the bike is a beast again. I kinda notice to when I hit water maybe messes with them to. Can anybody tell me whats causing my spark plugs to get so dirty and making the bike run very bad?

which honda is the best workhorse

Hi all
Looking at getting a used Honda (2010 too 2015) I will be using this unit in the bush hauling logs pulling a bush wagon with fire wood, lost of uneven ground. And yes a little just riding around. I do not need it to go fast. I was wondering if I should get a foreman or a Rubicon or any other suggestion , both in the 500 plus range. Power steering would be required.
thanks all

Need help with a wiring issue

Having trouble with my grizzly getting the start button to work. I am trying to check the wiring. I am checking voltages and continuity in the wiring harness. I suspect there may be some issue with my wiring harness.

At the starter solenoid, there are two control wires. Blue/White (L/w) and Red/White (R/w). The way I read my wiring diagram, if I check the voltage between the ground and the L/w wire, it should be 12V. Should there be NO voltage between the ground and the R/w wire?

The way I read the diagram, is there is 12V on the L/W wire coming from the Main Switch (B). When the starter button is pushed, it allows the r/w wire to go to ground and pulls in the solenoid (3)…. and the starter motor gets current.

Before I connect the solenoid, there is 12V on the L/w wire and also 12V on the R/w wire.

The solenoid works perfectly when I connect the blue/white and red/white wires directly to the battery. On the bike, if I connect the blue/white wire to the solenoid and touch the solenoid red/white wire to the frame, the solenoid will jitter open and closed very rapidly. :cussing:

300 fourtrax control arm/front diff /axle questions

Doing a 2 inch lift on my 89 300 4×4
And was wondering what other honda control arms /axles would work with the 300 front diff…looking to go a bit wider /get my alignment straighten put as every 300 I see with a lift has the top of the tires out, also longer control arms would put less angle on the CV shafts….

And my front diff had issues before and i think i fixed it but would a front diff out of a 400/450/500 work? Ive head of people using 500 foreman axlescehrn they go to 4+ inches of lift etc…
