Sportsman 850 exhaust heat issue need help!

I have a 2016 sportsman 850 HO bought in march. Ever since I’ve had it the exhaust pipe from the motor all the way back to the actual exhaust gets very hot and glows orange/red after riding it maybe 2 miles. It has even melted this black plastic piece near my leg multiple times dealer replaces it and "runs tests" says everything is normal. Obviously not the case. Is anyone else having this is Or have any suggestion on solving the issue? Really would like it resolved it can’t be good on motor and other components.

Winch for 1986 Fourtrax 250

Anyone out there mount a winch to their 250?? I know some of you have, I’m just hoping to see some pictures of how you mounted them. I’ve got an idea what I’d like to do, but some other ideas would be great.

I have an older warn 2000lb winch that I can just fit in the gap between the front of the frame and the shocks.

Maybe I should look at getting a cheap 1500lb winch. They are significantly smaller and are big enough I suppose.

On another note…. photobucket SUCKS. Anyone use anything different that is significantly better?

New member, new machine. Idle question

Hi I just bought my first machine, 2005 sportsman 500 ho. Previous owner died and it sat for a few years. I was having trouble getting it to accelerate under load. I put a caltric carb on, thinking I’d rebuild the original over the winter and put it back in this summer, but for ice fishing just run the knockoff. It work fine, but the idle speed seems a bit high, at between 1500-1600. The book says it should be 1200. Should I be concerned by this? I did adjust the throttle cable to the replacement carb, so it’s not pulling the throttle open any at idle. I don’t even see an idle speed screw on this carb if I do need to adjust it down… any help is much appreciated!

Best exhaust and tuner Renegade 1000

Hey guys new to the forum, as well as the g2 1000s. Just picked up a ’13 Renegade 1000 with QSC/STM clutches, HMF swamp series slipon, snorkels and 28" silverbacks. The quad rips good as is but I still want more. I’m not having any luck searching for the absolute top of the line full exhaust for these machines in terms of power. I dont care what the exhaust looks or sounds like, I want whatever has the best hp gains along with a tuner. Thats the other thing, what is the best tuner a guy can get that is more or less plug and play? I understand there is those tune monsters or w/e they’re called but I’m not a professional tuner and seems a bit over priced for someone who cant use it to its full potential. I tried searching on the forums but seems like there is just so many options out there and its hard to say whats the best.

Thanks.

New to ATVs

Hi Guys,
I bought a 2013 TRX420FPE ES right before Thanksgiving. This is my first ATV and the first experience with fuel injection. I haven’t started it since I bought it and I’m having a problem getting it to run. It starts for a few seconds and stops. I suspected bad gas and drained the tank. I’m just not sure how to purge the rest of the system. I think I should be able to take off the line to the fuel injector and turn the key on and the pump should run as long as the key is on. Am I on the right track?

New Member, Old Rider

Hello from Texas! Bought a ’09 Grizz SE a few months ago, 4100 miles, 408 hours.
Doing the maintenance now:
Front left wheel bearing, diff seal, brakes and of course left axle shaft due to damaged boot.
Back left axle shaft also due to damaged boot.
Oil change, new air filter.
Doing research on why only the front left brake pads needed changing, paper thin material left but all the rest of the pads have over 50% material left. I don’t think the bearing was bad but it did come apart while removing the hub.
Couple of Questions:
1.) Is there a way to adjust the left/right brakes and if so, where are the instructions for doing this?
2.) One axle nut was damaged and I need to get a die and chase the threads, what size are the threads, including threads per inch (TPI)?
Thanks, I’ll post pics when I can figure out how!!

2011 Grizzly 350 4×4 IRS purchase

Hey guys! I’m looking at a 2011 Grizzly 350 4×4 IRS with 264 miles. I haven’t seen it yet, other than pictures, it’s a 2+ hour drive to go look at it and I wanted some opinions before I do. The guy is the 2nd owner, said a friend needed money so he sold his Grizzly. Also said it’s mostly been in the garage since 2012, everything is stock except the starter solenoid. What are some things to look for with this machine? He’s asking $3300 and selling because he already owns Viking. I currently own a ’99 Honda Fourtrax 300 4×4 and want something with auto, selectable 4×4 with IRS. I’ve been around ATV’s for years but only Honda/Kawasaki’s. thanks for reading

Dielectric grease in/on/around connectors??

I’m working on installing a set of aluminum skid plates on my Rubicon. While taking the factory ones off I noticed a bunch of connectors.

SOOO that got me thinking what’s the best way to seal them?? A little dab inside the connectors? Fill the connectors? Just running a little bead around the closed connector? I have no intentions on going deeper than the tires but I’ve also fallen into a hole a time or 2 and would like to stay proactive in case things get deep.

Winch Trouble

I have a 2010 Sportsman 500 HO with Polaris winch.
Used mainly for plowing.
Big snow time now and wouldn’t you know it when plowing today winch was working fine then stopped both in and out. Will free spool.
When I hit the In or out button I get a loud click but no spool action.
Called the dealer and he said probably frozen box where wires go into, and to let it thaw out. Checked the box under the right front inside the tire, no moisture, etc., Sounds like a solenoid clicking, but loud. All wires to box tight.
He did say that lots of in and out action on these like plowing will make them go bad. I don’t have a way to get it to the dealer without renting a trailer. Anyone have any experience with this? Help sure will be appreciated.
Thanks, Lou
