Metal on magnetic drain plug

Today I was changing all the fluids and changed the engine the diffs and everything looked good but when I drained the transmission the drain plug had a 1" slim of piece of metal on it and has anyone seen this before it just don’t seem normal even during the break in to have a piece like that

They keep breaking down….

Most of my riding buddies ride can am outlander 1k’s and they keep breaking down. My last three Friday night rides all ended with towing a can am home within an hour of riding. First one blew a rear pinion gear (at 4800 miles). Second one blew a belt at (2200 miles). Third one blew the driven clutch (at 4800 miles). Having all that power is nice I guess, but it’s takes a toll on parts. Meanwhile I’m stuck with no riding buddies on a very reliable grizzly (4500 miles). I guess I’ll drink some beers in the garage on the next few Friday nights. Bummer.

06 Rancher AT screeching, some knocking

Over the last few days I’ve noticed what started an occasional knock underneath, while moving. Not continuous. Now it’s accompanies by a screech, and it’s happening more often. The screech is the kind that will turn your hair on end.

It doesn’t wound like it’s coming from the CV joints. I’d say it’s most likley coming from the rear, or perhaps the tranny.

4129 miles, 625.2 hours.

any ideas?

Kodiak forum

Hey yall, I have a 2005 kodiak 400. When I apply my rear brake at any speed higher than 5mph there is a fast ‘clicking’ coming from the rear of the quad. I have no clue wheremail to even start to diagnose the problem. Any suggestions helps!

Recon ES issues – apparently a new symptom

2002 250TE. I’ve scoured the search engine here and google, haven’t found anything quite like this. Recon has run fine since purchased in 2012, regularly serviced. Recently, some odd things are happening.

Will shift from neutral to 1st & 2nd normally with gear indicator lights properly illuminated. Shift to reverse, no indicator light, but runs in reverse. Shift to 3rd, 4th, 5th, no indicator lights but will run for awhile in higher gears, tho eventually 1st gear indicator will begin blinking, 12 blinks. Stop, cycle ignition, then can electronically shift back to neutral to restart.

First thing I did was check the batt, seemed a bit marginal on the VOM so had a local shop test. They said it needed a charge. Got a new one instead. Removed reduction gear cover, cleaned, lubed everything up with white lithium grease. Removed, cleaned, and lubed ECU connector with dielectric grease. No change.

Downloaded the service man, looks like I need to test the ECU and angle sensor. Any suggestions?

New here from Alaska

I lurked for a couple week researching things. Picked up this used 15 Sportsman 850 last week. Just installed the 28/9.5/14, 28/11/14 Outlaw 2 tires today that came off a High lifter Ranger. Gonna rip it up!
