Clutch Compatibility

I have a 97 Magnum 425 4X4 and I think I have a bad clutch (Not sure if it’s the drive, driven, or both). It won’t climb the ramp onto my trailer even in low range when trying to drive it slow it is fine give it some gas and it feels like the brakes are on. Let off the gas and it feels like the clutch doesn’t release and it feels like it drags the rear wheels. The trans shifts into H L N and R easy and smooth. I jacked up the rear wheels and spun them in all gears and there was no binding, grinding, and they turned easily by hand.

So my question. I have a parts 97 Sportsman 500 with EBS and a 07 Sportsman 500 Non EBS. I’m wondering if I can swap the clutches from either of the Sportsman’s to test and see if my Magnum’s problem is the clutch. I don’t want to invest the $$ into either a new clutch or all of the tools and parts to rebuild and find out that is not my problem.

Honda Rancher 420 Running Hot

I have a 2009 Honda rancher 420 that runs pretty hot. About 20 minutes into riding, the fan will kick on and keeps coming on about every 5 minutes or so. It runs great and the overheating light doesn’t come on, it just gets pretty hot and the fan kicks on a lot. The oil and spark plug were changed not too long ago and it is snorkeled and has a rad relocation kit on it, if any of those things matter. I also live in Texas if that makes a difference.
Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Having electrical issues with honda fourtrax

Hi everyone! Nice forum by the way! So we have a 1996 Honda 300 Fourtrax. It’s pretty old but was running just fine until recently. We have had some intermittent electrical issues. We’ve had to replace the starter motor recently which also came with a solenoid. That solenoid soon went out. Now we replaced that one, and literally the starter motor would just stay on all of the time with the key in the ignition or not. I just replaced that solenoid today.

So the four wheeler will only start if I bridge the terminals of the solenoid. If I turn the ignition switch one, we don’t get headlights or the neutral light coming on. However, after the four wheeler is cranked via bridging the terminals, the stator/alternator/whatever it is called powers the lights and the neutral light. It cuts offs as soon as the four wheeler cuts off.

Admittedly I’m not one that knows an incredible amount about this stuff or the inner workings of a four wheeler. My assumption is that the plug for the solenoid is for closing the circuit when you cut the 4 wheeler ignition switch on? I’m unsure as to why when I cut the ignition switch on, we don’t get lights or the neutral light indicator coming on. Everything appears to be hooked up correctly.

Thanks in advance for your help. I have a multimeter I can use to check things. I just need a little direction as to where to go and an explanation of what things do, so I can conceptualize it all.

Anyone want to swap stock shocks for my Elka Stage 1R’s?

I have a 2013 Base Renegade 1000 I bought with Elka Stage 1R shocks…..I am contemplating putting it back to stock and selling to get an XXC (need that power steering!).

I was thinking I would prefer to sell the machine as stock as possible……so if anyone has a set of stock G2 shocks (dont know if outlander and renegade will swap?), and would want to trade+cash for mine, let me know?

THanks!!

03 Kodiak troubles

hello everyone. I have bought a 03 Kodiak and had replaced the front end parts that he said needs replacing only to find out the rear drive and axle where all welded up. It left me stranded in a sand pit and ended up driving it out in front wheel drive, lol. Was just wondering if there is a aftermarket replacement for these parts or do I have to pay the Yamaha high prices?
