03 Kodiak troubles

hello everyone. I have bought a 03 Kodiak and had replaced the front end parts that he said needs replacing only to find out the rear drive and axle where all welded up. It left me stranded in a sand pit and ended up driving it out in front wheel drive, lol. Was just wondering if there is a aftermarket replacement for these parts or do I have to pay the Yamaha high prices?

TRX300FW 1995 – Busted Drain Bolt in Final Drive

Hey guys,

I just finished rebuilding the ass-end of my bike. I take a lot of pride in doing things right and I go overboard in doing so. I buffed the rust off of every nut/bolt, changed anything that needed to be changed and painted everything that needed to be painted. The swing arm, final drive, axle, axle housing and brake panel have been given a new life.

So here comes the time when everything is assembled and I decide to put my drain bolt into the case. I hand tightened it and then used a small hand ratchet to snug it up. I was on cloud nine and ready to test drive my bike when I heard a "stick" sound.

Busted the bolt inside the case. I’m gutted. Murphy’s f***ing law!!!

The perfectionist in me wants to drill a hole in the bolt and try to extract it but I’m afraid of busting the small bolt extractor inside the busted bolt…

Any tips or tricks?

air snorkel contact with plastic body

Have a new 570. I noticed pretty quickly that there was a pronounced hard rattle near the gas tank cap. Its pretty pronounced, I thought I had rod knock. Pulled the seat, and found the culprit… the air snorkel is bumping the plastic body at idle.

Initial thoughts:
Engine is running rougher than intended?
The air box is positioned slightly off in the frame making the snorkel position to close to the plastic body?

Anyone else have that going on?

96′ Fourtrax clutch noise

Hi Folks,

I’m new here but have been a big honda guy my whole life. I’ve always had an affinity for the 300 fourtrax since they were such a great machine. I’ll cut to the chase.

I have a barn find (96′ fourtrax 300) that I’ve been putting some money into getting it fixed up. I got a seat, muffler, etc… When I got it home I put gas in and charged the battery and it literally fires right up. Starts like brand new I cant believe it! Well I can cause its a Honda….Anywho

The problem: I installed new clutch discs as well as a "one way" bearing behind the centrifugal clutch. The bearing was probably fine but the clutch plates certainly were not. Now that I have that together and the new muffler on so it doesn’t sound its going to explode at any minute another noise has become apparent. I can only describe it as a "whirring" sound with a bit of rattle to it. It speeds up and slows down with the RPM’s. I give it the old screw driver on the ear test and it is definitely in the lower end and on the right side/side of break pedal. Sounds like it is coming from the centrifugal clutch and not the clutch with the discs. My guess is either something is rubbing from when I put it back together (don’t think this is it) OR the centrifugal clutch is out to lunch and I need a new one.

I thought I’d get some opinions before dropping another $100 in parts. Thanks in advance for your help. I’ll try to post a video with the noise.

Regards

Display dim Wont Start

2010 550 EFI EPS. Pulling my hair out (or whats left of it). when I turn on the display has a dim backlight and the EPS is lit. Of course it won’t start. The problem started last fall when we were hunting and it fixed itself. Took it to dealer he couldn’t find problem. Thought maybe ECU, but its not. I have removed cleaned and reconnected everything. Still nothing. Have ordered a wiring harness but would like to save the $500. Anyone have any ideas??

Sportsman 400 4×4 issue

My newly owned 2005 Sportsman 400 4×4 was wrecked hard, into a tree, and will now not start. It was running great when my daughter hit the tree, I replaced the whole front end, but now it wont run. I cleaned all the jets in the carb and made sure the diaphragm was good. I replaced the fuel pump with a brand new one, blew out all the lines and made sure none were kinked. I checked the thumb throttle points and they are apart. The atv will start of approximately a second or two…then die like its not getting fuel. If I try to start it again without resetting the key to off..it wont even attempt to start. If I cycle the key to off, then try to start it again, will attempt to idle then die.

Is there is something I am missing? Any help will be welcomed!
