Will the regulator for a 86 350 TRX work on the 87?

Hi guys,

I’m new here, but I’ve been reading your posts for quite a bit of time to get some of my issues resolved on my 87 350 TRX. I’m unable to find out if the 86 rectifier/regulator will work on an 87.

Any advice would be appreciated. My main issue with the bike is either the stator or the regulator. This is the second regulator I’ve put on this quad and the battery will still not charge, but I did buy the second one used.

I’ve tried checking to see if the stater is working correctly, but I’m not good with electrical issues nor do I know how to test the stater. I did put the tester on the battery while the motor was running, and I was only getting 10-11 V. The original owner didn’t have a battery hooked up for his quad for quite a bit of time, so I’m wondering if it really is the stator.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Winch Contactor behind mount plate question.

I would like to mount my winch contactor behind my winch plate because it is looking like that is the easiest way. Obviously it is more vulnerable to water there but would that be a problem if I don’t go into water very often? Where I ride there are some mt creeks and streams in the Spring but most of the time the ground here is dry and the humidity is low.

It looks like the only vulnerable connectors are the little wire to wire connectors. I could solder those and shrink wrap them.

One of the reasons I want to mount the contactor to the winch plate is the layout of the contactor. Its spade connectors are all on the bottom. If I mount the contactor under the hood will have to dismount the contactor to access the spade connectors.

I’d appreciate any comments.

Bottom end lacking

I just finished taking my diff out. I cleaned it all up, replaced some of the bearings, but overall, it wasn’t too bad. I replaced all the wheel bearings. I have a JBS clutch, an EHS tuner, EHS intake, and a Dyna ignition. The engine sounds great. However, the quad still doesn’t pull the front wheels off the ground at all. It pulled the wheels off the ground when it was stock. After take off, acceleration is great, it pulls hard.
Can this be a transmission problem?

Water depth….search can’t find….

I know this has to have asked and answered a thousand times…I must not be typing in the proper words…yeah I know, I’m not being lazy just not finding what I want to see…
2016 Xmr 1000….. How deep can you go? Just under pod? I just ordered the Omc seal…worried there’s something hidden that I should check from factory like known loose clamps etc…
So intake for cvt is right beside rad with the filter on it..the exhaust dumps out where?
Intake for filter to motor is where?
I’m not home with the quad so I can’t check it out…work out of town and so anxious to ride !
Thanks for your time.

94 Trail Boss steering hard??

I have a Polaris 94 Trail Boss 250.
When I push this machine around in my garage, if I go to steer it left or right, it will take more effort to push it forward or reverse, when front wheels are turned. Moves freely when wheels are straight. Greater effort to move when front wheels are turned to their maximum. What possible conditions, should I be looking for to correct this event?
Thanks

So now that you have had them awhile, how do you like the 2016s?

I am thinking most have been able to do some real riding over the past spring and summer months. With the 2017s shipping in a month or so, might be some good deals on 2016s out there.

So what is the verdict? Is the front end pushing, heat and lean running as bad as first thought or are the 16s still a good machine even with those issues? Does running lean give you great range?

2015 570 clutch kit

Ok on my bike ill either be going 27 or 28s tires , Its a basic trail rider with some mud , but its a hunting bike so will be pulling some bigger weights . Towed my king quad home this weekend and really could feel the weight power wise on hill grades . Its stock right now what will a clutch kit get me and what will i loose?

’94 Kodiak 400 intermittant running like crap

Hey guys, I’d appreciate opinions on this. The bike is driving me insane.

94 Kodiak 400, mostly runs great. I rebuilt the carb due to the same issues im having now. I’ve had the carb apart 5 or 6 times now, wondering if the wear on the slide is causing the problem. I doubt it thought, as its intermittent.

Sometimes when the bike is cold, impossible to start without a lot of cranking with choke full. Other times fires right up.
When cold, it tends to backfire through the exhaust and intake… very strange.
When on the road, it generally runs great at WOT, but at mid throttle, its almost like its loading with fuel and starts dying, backfiring. It will do this until it totally dies. If I pump the throttle or hold at WOT it will usually clean up and run like it should.
Occasionally it will misssurge at WOT, but not as much when its really good and hot.
When it dies out, I have to use full choke (even when hot) to get the thing running. Once running, if I shut choke off it will kill bike. But immediately after, if it turn choke off, bike will start and idle. VERY confusing, im usually really good with carbs.

I’ve tried different mix jet settings, rebuilt carb, set float height (how do I properly set float height on the angled carb body face!?

Getting to the point where Im ready to just order a new carb. Compression is good, timing is good, air filter is just a foam wrap over a metal mesh, air flow is fine. post carb intake boot is fine.

When it runs, its usually very good. When it starts burping and farting and dying, it super frustrating, especially when you don’t know whats up.
Sometime it like the float sticks open, other times closed.

HELP before I burn this frigging thing!
