2007 Outlander 500 Max HO EFI XT speedometer issues

Hi you all, I just purchased a 2007 Outy 500 Max XT and the speedometer is stuck on hours. I read all threw the internet, found out how to remove speedometer opened it up and the rod that contacts to the rubber push button was just bouncing around. I glued it to the rubber push button and still nothing. I see that the 08 model had a magnet on it. Does the 07 have a magnet? Also a lot of rust where the rod pushes in on the speedometer itself. I tried to clean up the rust and got to work erratically. If I get a new speedo does the dealer have to initialize it with BUDS software? Its also stuck on kilometers not mph (US model) I guess dealer change also?

Thanks,

Had it for 3 months…wondering about others

Had the bike for 3 months, bought new, so far I have 1200 km on it and about 50 hours, took it in for the first service. So far I like the power but not that impressed with the number of problems.

– Switch wouldn’t work, had to have it cleaned and greased.
– Power steering is being changed under warranty it is no longer working.
– The brake oil reservoir is leaking (on handle bar).
– Had a number of incidents with key not recognized.
– Leak indicator tube has oil in it, was told it was normal by tech now they are changing a rotary seal (or something) because apparently it is not normal to have anything in there, go figure that’s what the manual says.

I don’t ride hard, nor mud. I had to laugh when I was told the switch and key was dirty … no one told the engineers at BRP where these machines used? I also have this ‘womp womp womp womp’ noise when under load which makes me think it is going to fall apart but apparently it’s part of the Can-Am orchestra… anyone else hear the same?

I know these are not huge problems and thankfully I have a decent dealership but is this par for the course?

no brakes

Honda 99 250 recon.at a loss.rebuilt master cylinder, pistons, new shoes .tried to bleed them and still no firm lever at all.noticed when I pump lever bubbles come out of master cylinder.could this be a bad rebuilt kit or did I not seat something right? if I open up bleeder screws will the fluid come out without pumping lever?if it does come out would this indicate a leaking m-c?

Silly Question, How do I start this thing? 2000 Sportsman 500

I just picked up a non-running 2000 Sportsman 500 to clean up and refurbish as a fall project. I cannot figure out how to start it or attempt to start it. What I though was the push button start turns out to be a reverse override button. I thought maybe it was a keyed ignition but it just clicks once to turn on the power to the machine. The Red stitch on the unit has 3 positions and in the middle position lights come on and the unit seems to have power but in the far right position it just shuts everything off. Sorry to sound like a newbie here but I have owned Yamaha’s my entire life this is my first Polaris so Its just a little different.

Trying to trouble shoot what’s wrong but if I knew the starting sequence that would help.

Make a Honda Fourtrax 300 1988 drive again

Hello I’m new at The Honda ATV forum,
My name is Dennis and I purchased a beaten, trashed en abused 1988 Fourtrax 300 2×4. The quad is in really bad shape, but I like a challenge :yeahbaby01:
I live in the Netherlands and I was wondering if there are some people in the Netherlands or in Europe who can help me out with some good parts to make my Fourtrax 300 run good again.

What do I need:
– Right front brake drum with brake cylinders and brake pads
– Handlebar main brake cylinder with lever
– A straight and play free rear axle with hubs
– And some other small parts

There is also a problem with shifting the gears, the shift pedal serrations are gone on the pedal and the axle. Shifting the gears is hard and goes heavy. Will adjustment be the solution for this problem?
It’s a miracle that the engine is starting en running fine. The engine sounds like new. That is why I like to put some time and effort in this quad and make it run and brake good again. It would be nice if someone in the Netherlands or close to the Netherlands can help me out.

Thanks in advance,
Dennis

1990 Trail Boss 250 crank seals?

Great forum, i’ve been creeping around for awhile and figured id have to reg here to ask about this rig.

I picked up this 1990 250 2×4 trail boss a cple years ago. Fresh gas, cleaned the carb, new plug and it hasn’t let me down since. Ive been working on ATV’s and small engines my whole life and this one is getting the best of me.

Was out riding over the weekend and it came to a sputtering stop and wont restart.

I went through the carb, have great spark, 125# compression and pulled the crank case drain and nothing came out.

I can get it to fire if i spray starting fluid into the carb while cranking and that’s it. I’m getting gas and bright blue spark.

I notice i’m not getting any major suction through the throat of the carb, like it isn’t drawing vacuum through it to draw gas into the cylinder.

So with my research it seems i need to replace the 2 crank oil seals, does this sound like the next direction to take?

Thanks in advance and thanks for a great site.

Polaris EV 2012 finally won’t charge

These are the original batteries so I am not complaining that they won’t charge anymore. The dealer says there is a possibility all batteries may not need to be replaced. If so they quoted $2600 which took my breath away. Questions:
1. Should I replace all even if only some are bad?
2. Is there an upgraded technology from 2012 that I should consider
3. Is swapping out the batteries that complicated? I can get 8 appropriate batteries at Batteries Plus for $265 per battery and save quite a bit…

Thanks from a new member.
