2015 Sportsman XP 1000 LE Highlifter lower control are upgrade.

First off I knew what I wanted when this project was done, I figured when starting it it would be fairly simple lol boy was I wrong. What I wanted was a 2 inch lift with the high clearance A-arms front and rear. Simple right? So first and foremost I could not of done with without Jon from Precision Performance Parts and his bushings. He was my contact with SuperATV and was the guy that found out there arms wont fit Sportsman 1000’s because there made out of bigger tubing and the shocks hit. So started do some research and found Xtreme lift kits, here’s a pic of the lift I got from them.

Also found with my research that the new 2016 Polaris Sportsman HighLifter edition got all its ground clearance from there 29.5 inch tall tires. So I figures what the heck and ordered those A-arms form Cheap Cycle Parts. Heres one of the 4.

First problem I ran into on the rear A-arms is my quad has the Fox Racing shocks (one of the biggest reasons for buy this quad to me)

See the reservoir on the bottom of the shock and how close it is to the A-arm? Well with the high clearance arm they hit big time. So now what? Well i will say if your sportsman has regular shock then these arms SHOULD fit just fine. I see no problem with them fitting at all. So I started think what if I set my quad up on jack stands with the 2 inch lift in it and measure for the ground to the bottom of the rotor and stet up some blocks for that distance and just fab up my own shock brackets and see if we can make these things work? Also the HighLifter A-arms don’t have sway bar brackets witch I want. So thats what I did. I ended up making the mounts the 2nd try, and once I got those made.

I took the 2 inch lift out of the rear since I had the height I needed and then bolted the shock mounts to the shock and mounted the a-arm on the quad with the blocks under the rotor (for my 2 inch lift height)

Once I got it where i wanted it I tack it in place and pulled a-arm off the quad and welded it up.

Here it is with one HighLift arm on and the other is factory.

Here they are all powder coated and ready for install.

The front arms were easy lol, just install ball-joint and bushings and install.

I’ll get better pics sometime soon, its raining here today so will have to be next week sometime. I’ll also get compairison pics of my factory 2009 850 with shocks turned all the way up to this one so you can see the differance. At the footwell the 09 reads 12.5 inchs and the 15 reads 14.75. I have 27 inch tall tires on my 15 and 26’s on my 09.

Again thanks Jon, and by the way these bushings are bad—.

Rev and/or speed limiter?

I’m seem to recall my speedo hitting about 68mph when my 570 was new, but last night it was 65 and hitting a limiter.
I think this due to belt wear, but was it a speed limiter or does this machine have only a rev limit?
I’m not concerned about it, but would like to know.

850 touring exhaust

I’m looking for a slip on exhaust for my 2010 850 touring. I don’t want an obnoxious pipe that annoys everyone. Just looking for a pipe with a nice sound while still keeping it reasonably mellow and not annoyin others on the trails. I ride in Wisconsin so I don’t need the DNR on my butt lol. I was looking at the hmf Titan qs but I can’t find any sound files. Any other ideas? Is there such a thing?

New Wheels and Tires for the grizzly 550

As per in another thread I was askinget about wheel and tire suggestions, decided to go with diesel m12’s 14in and 27 in zillas.. Have yet to test them in the mud or anything but I am happy to say that I am quite happy with the minimal power loss, still going to do some sort or clutch kit in the future but going to ride it out for a little bit and see the performance of these tires… Here are some before and after pics.. Very happy with what it has done for the atv..Attachment 30329Attachment 30337Attachment 30345Attachment 30353Attachment 30361Attachment 30369Attachment 30377

Another Honda 420 shifting riddle

07 Honda 420fm
So I bought a 420 project and the guy said it wouldn’t shift.
I took off the cover off put the linkage back the way it should be and it felt like it was shifting correctly.
Reassembled engine and now it will shift once then stop.
Turn engine off and I can put it in another gear then start it in 2nd gear but won’t move.
it will move in reverse and first but I have to turn the engine off and on to change the gear.
Otherwise with the engine off it will shift to all gears that feels like nothing is wrong.

Before it split the case I wanted to check with you all and see if you’ve heard of any of this happening.

The oil drain screw was stripped so I suspect piece of metal may have broken off in there but why in the world would it change gears with the engine off but not change gears with the engine on?…..very confused

Was running my 400 ex yesterday and notice smoke coming from behind head lights. The wiring harness that runs from the on/off start cluster past the coil burned. Anybody seen this before or have suggestions on cause?? Thanks

1996 Honda trx 300 fourtrax left side engine case !

Here is the problem i had a left hand side engine crank case cracked and was leaking oil this was a running rideable 4 wheeler until i cracked case!
now sence changing the case and transferring all gears shift drum and all,no matter how i position gears washers and completeing following the repair and service manuals on placement of gear and mic the washers and all! no matter i can get it to change gears properly it either locks just like park or will only change a couple gears and then lock! please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

08′ Rancher 420 limp mode?

Starts up and idles fine…then about 5-10 mins into a ride it acts as if its not getting enough fuel and jerks and jerks as if the fuel pump is spiking up and down….disconnect the battery and turn key on to drain any residual electricity from system…reconnect battery 5 mins later and she runs fine for 5 mins then does it again. This tells me that there is either a sensor bad and it takes the ECU 5 mins to recognize it and shuts the system down into fail safe mode. Some sort of redundancy built it or something I’m thinking. Can anyone shed some light on this? I might have to make a video to show what I’m talking about, I suck at explaining things. Thanks.
