QSC Clutch install help
The spring and weight install on the primary clutch was pretty straightforward. Only think I don’t know is what are the different riding styles for the different shims that come with the kit? The kit comes with 1/16th" shim for 1800 rmp spring engagement, 1/8th" for 2000 rpm and you can use both for 2200 rpm. What I don’t know is what riding styles suite those different engagements. Can anyone offer some insights?
On the secondary clutch, I see 3 holes on the pulley to slide the spring into and 2 holes on the back of the helix. i don’t know which holes to use for different riding styles. i didnt make a note when i pulled the stock spring out. 🙁
Also, when I preload the spring, how much do I turn? 1/4 turn? Which direction? Clockwise? Counter?

Also, some other questions i have.. I noticed the nylon buttons inside the secondary have about 1/8th" wear already. MAchine has about 1000kms. Is that because of my riding style or is this normal wear and tear? I didn’t notice any creeping at idle or other weird behaviour. The clutch clicks and snaps on occiasion, as others have reported… is that maybe related?
I also noticed some raspiness to the edges of the helix and some wear on the outside edges in a couple of spots. I smoothed them out with some emery cloth so it’s smooth again. I’m wondering if that suggests that a bushing is worn or something. Should clutch cleaning and helix inspection be an annual task with this machine?

Outty wont start!
So I have a problem… My 2010 Outlander 800 wont start. I’ll tell you what happened and then if anyone can suggest any ideas that would be great!
Okay so I had a light bar hooked up that I had wired directly to the battery with a wiring kit I got of Amazon.
The other day I just parked her and had the seat off and all of a sudden smoke started to run out of the bike giving me quite a good spook. I quickly figured out it was my wiring harness melting for some reason. The only thing I could think of doing was start wiggling the wires in hopes of it stopping, which it did after a minute or to.
When it was all done with that I unhooked the harness from the battery and light bar and tossed it out because it was quite a mess.
Anyways I was worried it may have done something to the bike so I turned it on and there was no problem! Then I took it for a spin and about 30-40 mins into the ride, the bike started loosing power. It would die down and then rev back up while backfiring until it eventually just stopped at the back of a field. I tried to start it again but it would only turn over, it would not fire up. When I turn the key I can hear the fuel pump making a noise but it is not the usual noise it makes so I’m not sure if it is working properly now… I tried to start it a few more times which led to the bike having no power at all.
I ended up getting it towed back home when I took the battery out and got it tested, it was dead so I got it recharged hoping that was my problem. Put the battery back in but sadly it still wont fire, it will turn over fine, it just wont catch, and the fuel pump is still making the weird different noise.
So thats my story, if anyone has any idea of what could have happened that would be great! I’m not the smartest guy when it comes to fixing things so the simpler the better.

What kind of break in should I do? Drive it like I stole it? Or take it easy for 30 miles or so?

’13 Foreman 500 Accessories ? Suggestions Please.
1) I need a 2" ball and also a "hole" for the pin on my small yard cart.
Will something like this work or maybe a better option ? What do you use ?

2) Winch mount…. I’m guessing the KFI is a good bet ? Anything better ? Probably a LT3000 or Terra 3500 going on it. The bike has a Tractor Supply "Traveller" winch on it but it looks like Bubba installed it after a night out…LOL. I’ll start over.
3) Headlight and pod bulbs…. Better, brighter replacements ? I’ll install a LED light bar eventually but wants good, bright bulbs anyway.
4) A-arm guards and skid plates on hold until I get the new Cycle Country plow setup delivered.. Need to figure out what will work and what won’t with the mid mount. Just thinking out loud.
5) What else do we need ? This is going to be our utility/workhorse atv.

I’m about done with the furious spending frenzy on quads…just trying to get them right before the good weather hits..
