02 700 4WD issue

Looking for advice on where to start, what started it all was a light growl from the transmission and I noticed the 4wd wasn’t engaging. After multiple attempts it when into 4wd noise went away. Put it into reverse and lost 4WD again, no noise. selector switch appears to be working correctly but I am not sure to where to begin looking into why the 4wd isnt always working.

Can someone brake down how the 4wd unit is suppose to work on this, i know the front output shaft always turns but is it really engaged on the transmission side all the time and front diff just engages or is it simply spinning from centrifugal force?

ATV Enthusiasts speak your mind

If you haven’t taken the plunge to the SxS market what is keeping you on your quads. What do you like best about atving vs driving a sxs? Not knocking it, as I myself prefer just the seat handlebar releationship…but there sure are plenty jumping ship.

What would you like to see in the future, or what is important to you? I myself generally just plow, drop the seadoo and do yard work with mine, so I prefer the sizing, the seat access and the visibility. Its also used to stake the snowmobile trails here before winter. I have gun grips I use for shovels and tools and an enclosed cargo box for chainsaw and other items. I guess i wish they would come out with somehting with a bed or an accessory bed that goes on a std small model and not the price of a 6×6.

WHat accessories would you guys add or dream up?

More power?

Hey all, so I purchased a used grizzly 550 EFI a few weeks ago and it was my first quad purchase. I love it, the thing is an animal, and I have brand new 26" ITP mudlite XL’s on it. Just ordered a Warn pro vantage 2500 and a 22" Opt7 c2 series, 10000 lumen light bar to help get out of the mud(if i get stuck) and to see where the hell i’m going when the nigh falls. Anyways, what can I do to wake the 550 up. Its a nice running engine, and is powerful for what it is, but i just want a little more and am looking for suggestions. Everything about it is bone stock. Thanks for the replies in advance! Topped out with the new tires on the road my digital speedo reads 57 MPH, I am 6’5 and about 275.

It’s finally time to upgrade the trailer

Not purchasing a new trailer, just upgrading the existing trailer.

a little over 5 years ago I purchased a 14’x6′ tandem axle utility trailer. over the years I’ve made some upgrades. New cross members, remove-able sides, heavy duty tie-down points, new hubs/brakes, new tires, ramps, LED lights, wheels & Tires, etc. I’ve done all this while avoiding the purely designed and undersized tongue.

My license plate broke and fell off and when I went in to replace it I was informed that the trailer was still licensed as a Travel trailer and that I could be fined big time if I were pulled over. So, now it’s time to upgrade the tongue and out fit the trailer to legally match the axle’s 7000 lbs GVWR. I’ve already removed the original tongue which was A frame style made of 3"x2" Channel iron that was "boxed in". It was inline with the main rails of the trailer (went through the front rail and first cross member). I’ll be using the metal form the tongue to replace the front rail and first cross member and upgrading to a 5" x 2" x .188" (3/16") rec tubing wrapped (follows main rails back to just forward of the spring perches) A frame tongue with a 2 5/16" coupler. New tongue jack, screw jacks on all four corners, and brackets for the Weight distribution hitch so that my tow vehicle can legally tow the 7000 lbs GVWR. Along with paint over the entire trailer so that it not a mottled mess of new and old paint from older modifications. With the modifications done I’ll be comfortable getting the trailer inspected, and hauling the full 5000 lbs + payload which will included my father in-law’s skid steer.

I’m notorious for not taking pictures mid project, but I’ll try to post pictures when all is said and done.
