Low end knocking type noise?…

Went on my First ride on my 2 used quads this weekend. ’09 550, 800 miles on it and ’07 700 1700 miles. Idling pretty quiet, rev them up in park (not bouncing them off the limiter, just goose the throttle) you can hear a distinct singular (klock) noise, kinda like a a loud spark knock. (using 93 octane gas). Put them in gear and start to accelerate and what I can best describe as a low end rod knock type noise. Is this normal?!! I cant tell if its in the clutch area or the motor… I,m kinda lost here. I’m a mechanic by trade and i thought maybe one bike but both of them do it, but idle them and they are quiet, no knocking noise??? and im thinking it was getting worse by the end of our outing. (may just be me being a worry wart). I plan on going to a trail meet this weekend and don’t want to have a catastrophic failure 10 miles out into the woods. I can deal with having to put motors in them, i just don’t want to blow holes in the short blocks and make them unrepairable. Please let me know if this is normal, i haven’t been around or rode any other bike to know if it is or not. No Performance issues, they both s#$t and git just fine otherwise.

2011 XT 400 – Grinding Noise w/Braking

Purchased a 2011 Outlander XT last fall for my wife. Only had 172 miles on it. Rode it a little last fall and some over the winter with no issues. This weekend the wife stopped me while riding and said there was a grind noise when stopping and was worse going down a hill. Noise is duplicated even on flat road and braking. Sounds like a loose or worn u-joint of drive chain type noise in center of atv. Pulled cover and checked what I could on clutches. Rear shaft seems ok. Ran on stand and does not do it which is puzzling. Wondering if anyone else has run into something similar?? New to Can Am’s so not sure of all the qwirks yet…

Hi or Lo

I drive a outlander 850XT. This may seem like a strange question, I’m not use to a belt driven bike having always rode a manual. When using Hi and Lo not sure when to and not to? how fast can you go in Lo? The only time I put my last bike in lo was when I plowed the driveway, so sort of still learning LOL.

New guy from Western PA

Hey all, Mike here. I live just north of Pittsburgh PA. I have a 07 grizzly 450. Got a few other toys too. Sportsman 570, yamaha vmax, klx 110 for my son.

I’ve had bikes all my life but just recently jumped over to ATV’s. Getting ready for a 5 day trip to HMT (ashland) and wouldn’t you know it, the Grizz is acting up. Only got a couple days to get it fixed or else it’s staying in the garage. This seems like a pretty active site so I’m hoping you guys can help me out.

Hello from a Troll of Michigan

Hello to all
I am from Michigan and ride a 2003 Outlander with a lot of custom stuff on it.
I have done Rock and Ice climbing, caving, white water and tour Kayaking, bike touring, Backpacking and more. I Love the outdoors. So I work hard to play hard. I have found that these sports are no longer in my realm of safe play. My MD has advanced to the point the ATV is my new best friend.

Have plains for a road trip ( 4 to 6 weeks ) back to Alaska this next Year. This year will be a trip to the Bad Lands as well as a trip across the upper peninsula of Michigan.

Would love to hear if you have been there done that and got the shirt and mug.

Thanks for reading
Hope to chat with you in the Forum

Wet Clutch-One Way Bearing

Hello guys! Just got back from a trip down to Hatfield and McCoy in W.V. and while down there I think I lost my One-way bearing. When going down hill the machine free wheels, unless I blip the throttle. I also hear a grinding noise on deceleration, even in neutral. Is the grinding noise associated with the one-way or another bearing? Also the machine just turned 8000 miles, should I be replacing the wet-clutch while I’m doing the bearing replacement? How do you know if the wet clutch needs replacing? Thanks for the help in advance!!!!!

Four wheel drive indicator coming on around 40?

Anyone had this issue? Today when riding I noticed that when I get to around 40 MPH my four wheel drive indicator on the dash comes on for a second and then goes back off. Some times it will go on and off a couple of times. I don’t hear or feel anything unusual when the indicator goes on and off but it is a little disturbing to think it may be going in and out of four wheel drive at a 40 mph roll. 2013 XMR 1000, bone stock.
