Ok so if anyone watches the news Texas and more specifically Houston…was hit by massive floods saturday/sunday. Well I took the bike out for a ride to the back of my subdivision to monitor the bayou that backs up to my house. I stayed out of almost all high water and nothing really above the floorboards. No joke I go through way worse at the mud parks than what I went through.
So as the wife and I were pulling back into the driveway I noticed the check engine light kick on. Never felt any change, sputter, stall…anything…I cycled through to the check engine popped up on the display and that’s all it showed (no codes). So I pulled it into the garage and got out the shop manual to see what I needed to do to pull the codes. Needless to say I could not find that section in the manual so I hopped on google.
Looks like if I read correctly that I am a bit screwed. If you shut off the bike then the code is lost is what I read. It has to be in the same ignition power up or whatever you wish to call it (power cycle?). So I tried to start it up backed it up and down the driveway…no light…
Should I be concerned? Is there a way to pull that code? How would you proceed from here?
So my girlfriend and I just bought a 2015 trx500 FM6, I’m seeing these guys on YouTube running 60mph+ and ours taps out at about 49. What are all of you doing to get so much extra out of them?
I’m trying to find fender flares for my wife’s 2015 570 and the local dealer is telling me that none are available for non-touring models. I thought I remembered some older posts about some manufacturers working on production of flares for the non-touring models. Does anyone know of any that are available?
Ive got an 01 sportman 400. Its been acting a fool with the starting and charging system on and off recently.
I replaced the starter, starter solenoid, and battery recently. Everything was all and well until the battery died. I then realized it wasnt getting charged.
I charged the battery and it was back to being able to start just fine. I get a few days of riding it then its back to the pull start until I can get it charged.
Just the other day it stopped starting even with a charged battery. I suspect the cheap solenoid I put on it went out but I have tried to jump it yet.
My question is, is it the stator that would cause it not to charge? or is there something else. I do have a volt meter and can test things, but im honestly very new with it. (What im trying to say is I dont know what to set it on to get specific readings).
I’m trying to find a belt for my daughters 90, what I see on ebay is all 780-16.5-30, and the one on her bike is a 788-17-28? Did some oneput a wrong size on? There are no dealers around me to ask. Thank you for any input.
I just bought a 2000 TRX90 for my son. The rear tires are totally worn out. I would like to use a turf tammer rear tire size 18x8x8 which means I will need a different wheel with a 4 on 110mm bolt pattern instead of the stock 4 on 85mm. I have heard that any of the rear hubs from the larger honda sport quads will fit on the 90 axle splines and I can then use the 4 on 110mm wheels. Can anyone confirm that this is true?
Hi I just bought a 2014 grizzly 550 from a buddy. It’s got 8 hrs and about 89 miles on it. it starts great, runs great. Just wondering if since I don’t technically know it’s complete history/ break in to date should I take it in for first service or ride it out till the 20 hour mark and do a semi break in until the 20 hr mark? He got it for free through lonestar beer and never used it gave me ATV, two new helmets, tow hitch, grill guard, and a back seat hard storage case all for 5k. Seemed like a good deal according to my research. Thoughts? It’s my first atv btw.
Finally got all of my clutching issues fixed! Today was the first ride I had went out on with my 2000 kodiak 400. Before loading it up last night I went through it a bit and checked the oil and such. Well I guess after cleaning off my oil dipstick and inserting it to check level I scrubbed the side of the crankcase and got some oil on the dipstick. So I thought I was good ok the oil. After a couple hours of riding today all of a sudden it shut down and acted like something locked up. Ended up put a whole 2 quarts of oil in it, IT WAS EMPTY! couple of guys I was riding with had a couple of quarts of Rotella that I bummed. Convinced that it was already shot, and there was no hope I cranked it for a few seconds and it started, but was sounding pretty rough ( I was thoroughly convinced I spun a bearing). After shutting it down and coming to terms that the damage had already been done, and I might as well try to ride it back to the truck, we took off again. After 10 minutes or so of riding, the engine smoothed back out (not completely, but WAY better). Rode probably another 4 or 5 hours. And not easy riding either. It ran like a champ, and never noticed any loss of power. With saying all that I have a question and statement to make. First the question: has anyone ever ran any of the Lucas oil treatment in their wet clutch equipped yamagata? And for my statement: Grizzlys and Kodiaks are some tough sons of b#####s!! Definitely feel like I learned a valuable lesson today… The hard way.
Hey guys just sold my rzr and made it back to a Honda. Haven’t been on a 400 ex in a while so I picked one up today that’s smoking badly. I have a Foreman TRX450FM rear diff and want to know if it will work in the Foreman TRX500FM
I looked at the part numbers and they are different, but I have these two diffs side by side and they look exactly the same on the outside and as far as I can find the gear ratios are the same inside
Anybody know for sure if they are the same and will work?
Thanks in advance
