My 2016 is the first power steering quad I’ve ever owned so bear with me if this is a stupid question. When I come to a complete stop the power steering sometimes works and sometimes it does not. When its not working all I have to do is give it the slightest amount of throttle just enough to raise the rpm’s a pinch and it works again. Anybody else experience this? My dealer thought the EPS doesnt start till 5 mph and above. Is this right???
Hi everyone, not having an issue (I think) just have a question about my 400ex. I have noticed over the short while I’ve been riding that 5th gear is only marginally higher than 4th gear, to the point where it feels like there should be another gear. Maybe I’m not revving it out enough, and maybe I’m overestimating the 4 wheeler’s capabilities, but it almost seems like my top speed should be higher and my last gear should be longer. Has anyone else with this quad experienced something similar? there is definitely a 5th gear, I counted them today, but I’m just wondering why they’re so close. literally not even a 300rpm difference between the 4th and 5th gears.
thanks for the input everyone.
cheers
I have a 1984 trx 200. It was not charging when I bought it. It starts and runs great. I cleaned all the connections. I checked the stator ac voltage and it was very low at only a few volts. I had the stator rewound and now it puts out 15v/AC at idle and goes up into the 40v/AC plus range when I rev the engine. Is that the correct voltage range? Still not charging the new battery. I checked the output at the regulator/rectifier. I used jumper wires so that I could access the harness the the regulator/rectifier. I have the stated AC voltage going in but only 1.4v/dc at idle and less than that when the engine is revved the engine. I replaced the regulator/rectifier and it is still the same. What could be going on? Could I have 2 bad regulator/rectifiers? Is the output of the stator too low?
On the timing gear, how close do the timing marks have to line up horizontally with the top of the head. My timing marks, with the flywheel on the "T", line up with one mark showing and one mark slightly below the top of the head. I have tried re-orienting the chain on the gear, but that is as close as I can get it. Should this be OK?
I’ve got a 2013 Recon, been riding it for 3 years now quite and loving it. My first quad, and I’m still learning self-maintenance.
Recently the the reverse stopped working. I press the red "R" button, squeeze the left brake as far as it will go, and press the down-shift ES button to go from N to R, but nothing happens. It’s worked fine for almost 3 years until now. Since it stopped working, I’ve been pushing it backwards when needed for a while, but want to figure this out.
One thing I tried was tightening the cord line in the back by turning the adjustment knob at the end of the line. I had to turn it 15 times (an absurd amount) until it was tighter, and then I was able to squeeze the brake enough with "R" down to get the ES to go from N to R. The electronic shifting went smoothly, and it works reliably.
However, now the left brake (rear) is very tight compared to the right. It only squeezes about 25% compared to the right before the rear brakes almost lock up going fast on dirt. I don’t like riding like that.
Any way I can fix this without needing to clearly over-tighten the brake line?
My 2005 800 twin Sportsman started getting hard to shift and just recently started squealing in low….then very quickly wouldn’t shift unless the key is turned off. Pulled the clutch cover and secondary was spinning even at idle. Pulled the belt and the one way clutch bearing is almost totally seized.
Problem is, the bearing is $115 and by the time I buy all the tools I’m at $300. Dealership won’t save me any money and won’t end up with tools to show for it. Im concerned I’m going to go through all of this just to get the primary apart and the shaft is toast. My dealer can’t get me just the rear sheave with the shaft so I’m out of luck in that regard. I’d buy a whole new clutch if reasonable priced just to be on the safe side but at $500+ I can’t go that route.
Anyone with any advice or experience in this situation? I’d appreciate any input at all, anecdotal or otherwise. Thanks for your help.
Hey all, new to the forum. My name’s Kyle and I’m a 19 year old engineering student in southern Ontario. I have a 2001 400ex. Just picked it up a few weeks ago. I’ve got a ton of experience riding machines, but this is my first sport quad. Im handy with a wrench and love working on stuff. unfortunately I also break stuff a lot so ill probably be on this forum very frequently lol.
Ive already posted a thread and so far I love the forum. Lots of friendly knowledgeable guys on here. Cheers guys!
I recently pulled my breather box off to change the tps and sensor and I have a vacumn line on the bottom of the airbox. I can’t find where it goes I got three hooked up
Just picked up my new 2016 sportsman 570 11 days ago, Put tires and wheels
on it, pure polaris hand guards,Direction2 overfenders, and K&N Air Filter with dust cover.
