2001 – 2004 Honda Foreman Rubicon 500 Question

Hi all,

I was hoping to confirm something I was told. Are all of these year models the same? I’m not 100% sure what year model mine is — but, was told by an atv mechanic that all the 2001 – 2004 are the same construction.

I am needing to order a receiver hitch and like the looks of the strong made receivers — and, want to confirm I’m getting the correct one.

Thanks!

06 TRX359TM Rancher

Hello everyone.
I have a 06 TRX350TM Rancher that I let set up for about 2 ½ years due to health reasons.
Finley got it out to start riding again so first changed oil, Air filter, but throttle slide was stuck
So started to rebuild the carb and broke the float pin stem so to the internet I go.
I ordered a new carb and thought it would be ok, but so much for that!!!
To start with it was pouring gas out the overflow, fixed that buy adjusting the tang on the float.
Now it can be setting at idle and start revving up on its own. And pops back and spiting gas out the carb when I give it gas
I tried to adjust the carb but it makes no change, adjusted the valves and no change.
So I’m open for any suggestions hoping to find the answer before I blame it on a new carb and send it back. Thanks

Frogzskin or Mo-flow to stop water from getting in clutch and intake tube

I was thinking about ordering some and using electrical tape to basically create a water stopping bag over the two tubes sticking up near my gas tank. I got a little bit splashing into my intake and a lot going into my belt when going through water quickly. I can see dried up muddy water all over under this area and was thinking that this product would help keep the water going in to a minimum while still allowing air to get through.

Would this product restrict airflow too much to use in this application? Has anyone used it for this reason before?

Cut losses and Run?

I picked up a 2013 Honda Rancher that had a bit of engine noise, I took it into the Honda Dealership to have them listen to it and see what they thought. They thought it might need a valve adjustment. Wrong, they scoped it through the spark plug hole just to get an idea of what they might see, cylinder walls are scored and it has piston slap also suspecting cam chain. The questions I asked the seller were what kind of service records do you have, how often have you changed oil etc. Evidently he was not upright and truthful, at this point the estimated cost is between $1400 and $1600, do I fix it? or have them put it back together and see what I can get out of it being honest with whoever I sell it to? Appreciate any input anyone can offer. Thanks FF

Jetting predator 500

I bought my predator with aftermarket air filter, hmu sport exhaust, dynojet kit (I’m not sure on which of the jets or air/fuel settings), and also a seized piston. I installed the wiseco 104.83mm hi comp piston and did not rejet and put atleast 30 hours on it. After blowing a head gasket I had my head trail ported and now it only idles for 20 secs and die. I wanted to know should I rejet and if so what should I be running, I live in Houston?

High Idle, Unable to Shift

Hi all,

I have a 2013 Sportsman 850xp HO Limited that is giving me fits. It runs well when it’s in gear, but it idles very high (and rough) which doesn’t allow me to shift it into gear without shutting it off. Generally it’s idling around 1600 to 1900 RPM. Sometimes it idles very rough and even occasionally stalls.

My local Polaris shop is swamped with work, so my friend who is a mechanic is going to look at it. He does ATV and motorcycle repairs as well, so he’s familiar with the machines. That said, but are there any common issues with late-model 850xp machines that could cause these problems?

I did some searching around and found issues with older and/or non EFI models, but I didn’t notice anything about this machine in particular.

Many thanks in advance.

BC HTR25/10/12 vs C ACT 26/10/12 pic

I needed to replace my worn factory tires. My Outlander XT came with stock 26/8 fronts and 26/10 rears. I trail ride and avoid mud, nasty boulders and wished to mantain full performance, so tried to match diameters. Also I didn’t want to have a tie rod clearance issues so I avoided 26/9 fronts. It appears that the 25/10 Bear Claws at 6psi match 26/10 ACTs PSI? In size.

Moab 2016

The annual spring Moab trip was not our typical trip this year. It was snowing rather hard when we left the house Friday morning.(which actually isn’t that unusual for us :biglaugh:) Once we got into Moab we had temperatures in the upper 40’s to lower 50’s, winds in the 30-50 mph range, and then throw in some rain for good measure, and it was far from typical weather for this trip.
It was good to meet a couple of members from this forum out there. Ironically, they are Grizzly riders…
We met geerig Friday morning at the Steel Bender trail head, and then hit Poison Spider. (in the rain) PS "uncledaddy" will be glad to hear that the Sportsman is plenty stable on steep hill climbs. Jayson can confirm this… :laugh2:
Sunday evening I met Ransom Proctor up at the camp ground he was staying at.
I didn’t take many pictures since the weather wasn’t wanting to cooperate. About blew my camera out of my hands a couple of times (literally) and it’s not water proof. Hopefully bi66badjohn will post some of his video when he gets it ready.
Here’s all I have.
