OEM PDF you can print out or reference.
Since no one has posted about doing this, I decided to give it a try on my 850, should be the same for any 550/850/1k bikes. These parts are used in diesel rangers and the highlifter 850/1k
I have had no trans issues to date, but wanted lower gearing.
I’m in the process of installing the parts, not quite done as our set of snap ring pliers just crapped out. Also waiting for a new trans to engine gasket.
Ranger gears and chain part numbers are posted in the pic, also a Turner Cycle reverse chain upgrade was installed.
Special tools-A number torx drivers are used and listed in the pdf 25 and 27 I think, 2 sizes of snap ring pliers are needed as well as a bearing puller for the bearings on the shafts in the trans.
I went the long way and pulled the trans, but now having it apart It could be done quicker in frame.
The pdf instructions are pretty good and I’ll take some more pics before putting it back together.
I installed a new fuse and new starter solenoid today. Everything worked absolutely perfect! Lights worked, neutral and reverse lights worked…and then….
A loud noise, like the starter had started itself…and wouldn’t turn off. I finally had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop.
I reconnected the battery, checked the new fuse (which is fine) but the electric start will not work…and I have no headlight, taillight, no neutral and reverse lights.
What the heck just happened? I was soooo stoked to have it working! 🙁

Howdy,
I am new, and this is the first post for me. I’m really glad I found this forum. I bought a 2013 500 EFI used, and it’s functioned well for many typical ranch tasks like towing fallen trees, hauling firewood, etc. I had an interesting problem occur with this over Memorial Day. My wife had driven the kids around in it and said it had backfired when she decelerated fast. I had never heard it do this. It sat about an hour and then she got back in with the neighbor’s wife and her son and started it in park, then shifted it into low. It was idling a little too low roughly and she pumped the gas pedal to keep it from stalling and it hung the acceleration at speed and took off like a runaway horse and as she passed screaming I can’t stop it, she had both feet on the brake with wheels turned fully, and it still pushed straight ahead toward the fence and main road down below. My neighbor and I ran out to help and I shouted turn off the key! My neighbor’s wife turned it off and it stopped about 6′ from a fence that would have put them over a cliff had she gone through it. It was a pretty wild and scary situation. Now, it won’t start but It turns over. It had a battery icon show up, so I charged the battery overnight. It cranks but acts like the injector is not putting in fuel. I attached a photo the girls took of my neighbor and I trying to understand how this occurred after the event. We ended up pushing it back into the shop since it would not start. I would appreciate anyone’s help or input on this. Thanks.

Hey guys and gals, ive got a 2015 rubicon foot shift. i went to adjust the clutch earlier tonight and now the bike wont grab any gears and the shift lever isnt operating properly.
any information or help with this problem would be amazing if any of you have had this problem. Or if i simply have to take it back to the powersports shop we got it from for the repair.

Had to post this of my dummy son and dummy nephew from this afternoon. I went riding to catch up with them as they’d been out for a little while. Our trail is only about a 1 mile loop in 2 sections. Came across them walking and told me they’d both gotten stuck in the 1 mud hole that we have. I can understand my nephew getting stuck since he went first, but I don’t know what my son was thinking getting stuck right beside him. He said he was trying to get in front of him to pull him out and then when he looked in his storage box he realized he didn’t even have the tow strap (that stays in mine).
