Went out ice fishing over the weekend. Everything was fine, the beast was ripping through the trails and flying across the ice, great riding Thursday & Friday. Then late friday I noticed my exhaust was starting to get louder. Now I only had 250 miles on her, so I figured maybe she was just starting to break in. Still had all of power it was just starting to get loud as hell, by the end of the day I had a screaming headache. Exhaust was hot all day but never cherry red or melting plastic. Just steaming from the snow.
Started it up Saturday morning to head out onto the ice and noticed the gauge pod wasn’t showing the gears (H,L,N,R,P) just blank(–). But fired it up anyways and still loud as hell. Warmed up and went out, but now I reached the rev limited quick. I mean I hit it doing like 30MPH at anything over half throttle, if I was lucky. Which obviously that isn’t right.
What did I do to her??
The exhaust I was thinking is the gasket, but then starting up the next day… Clueless. No error codes present.
Its still under warranty, I purchased it in Sept. So going to call the dealership here shortly, Its already in the back of my truck ready for drop off. 300 miles on her now and this already…
Just wondering if anyone has any insight on a issue like this. I’ve been reading the forums for awhile now and seen exhaust issues, but nothing on this. Wondering what I’m in for…
is there any way you can replace the entire counterbalence shaft while the engine is still in the quad. I know it is possible to replace the seals but how can you remove and put the whole new thing in?
I bought a used 2013 sportsman 850xp eps 3 days ago. I have a tire/clutch question. It came with fairly new 28" bighorn 2.0 tires. Stock tires are 26". If I remember correctly the front tire width is 11 and the rear is 14. Since these are larger than stock do I need to get a clutch kit? The bighorn 2.0 tires are lighter (by about 2-4 lbs per tire) than the standard bighorn.
Okay so i bought this quad (2003 trx400ex) with it missing some parts and pieces, one of them being the headlight bulbs.. Got new bulbs, went to install and i feel like i am missing a piece. But looking online, on ebay, and exploded views i dont know what i am actually missing or how these bulbs are held in.
This is what the back of my headlight looks like,
And for the exploded veiws i have,
SO I have #2,3, and 4, which according to the exploded views is all the parts.. Im guessing there is a piece that screws into the back of the housing where the two screw holes are that i am missing?? Or does it fit in some other way?
What is the benefit to some lift kits for our atvs changing the shock mounting from lower to upper control arm? I ordered a kit and looking at the pictures the designer has changed the mounts from lower to the upper control arms and made the shocks mount almost completely vertical. Not use to seeing this type of design, and just wondering if you gurus have any input on it.
