Just saying hi! I’ve been on atvs since I was four. When I turned 18 I found beer and women lol. Well 10 years later I’m back at it and into it more then ever.
Hey guys, brand new to the forum. Ran into an issue and hoping for some help. So, long story short just got a 96 fourtrax 300 fw and it was leaking oil from the right clutch cover. So, I bought a new gasket and put it in and put everything back……. and it would NOT shift at all. So, thinking it was definitely related because it shifted fine before….I pulled the cover again and everything fell out of place. The clutch lever, ball retainer, lifter plate and the lifter cam. Also the bearing behind those and a washer from somewhere. So after multiple tries I put everything back and got it to shift again but now it isn’t right. At first it wouldn’t move in gear so I played with the adjuster and it moves like normal but sometimes the shifter sticks and it doesn’t go into gear as easy as it was before. Did I screw something up when putting everything back? The service manual really didn’t have anything for this or what position everything needed to be in. Do you think just adjusting the clutch adjuster correctly will fix everything? Again it moves fine but doesn’t shift smoothly and sometimes it will randomly act like the clutch is bad and not move until I mess with the adjustment. Sorry that was long but looking for some help. Thanks for anything!!! 🙂

I just picked up a 2013 Trail Edition 420 for my son and I’m wondering if there is an easy way to get more ground clearance. Is there a simple lift kit?

I have a 2014 High Lifter. Every time I ride in the mud or fast down the roar, my Razor seems to run hot, 220-230 degrees. Just about that time the engine light comes on and the Razor is limited on power or shouts off completely. You can still see threw the top part of the radiator so I know it is not completely blocked off with mud. At times the engine light comes on after the initial over heating issue limiting the power even thought the temp is down below 200 degrees. What is the chance that the design of the cooling system isn’t capable of cooling the 1000 cc engine under heavy riding? Does anyone else have the same issues?

A buddy of mine has a 420 Rancher and was changing the oil when he noticed that a chunk of the threads had broken out of his drain hole. He showed me a picture and it looked like about a third of the threads were missing. He has had his Rancher for a few years and it is way past his warantee period.
Has anybody else ever run into this. He said he checked with some mechanics and they said it was a common problem. I haven’t ever heard of this being a problem.
Another buddy had bought a plug with something that looked like a toggle wall anchor on it the looks like it will work. Has anybody had any experience with this? Is this a long term solution?
The dealership said it would cost $1200 to fix it right and the machine is probably worth $2400.
