I have always been of the opinion that when riding off road vehicles you must protect the single most important decision-making part of your body and that’s your head. However I have noticed that in the passing years many people choose to buy the cheapest ATV helmet they can find all the while not knowing if it would even protect them in a crash. To make matters worse people will by their children even cheaper head protection. This short read will hopefully help you make the right decision when choosing a helmet.
Let’s take a brief glance into the many certifications that can be found on the legitimate helmets at your local dealer. We have all seen the DOT, SNELL and ECE stamps usually tucked down at the bottom of the backside of your helmet, but we want you to understand what each one means.
I went to replace my rear brakes the other day and the part the brake shoes rides on the brake panel busted off. I think I am getting the terms right. I think I need a new panel but everywhere I look it says not available. So the brake shoes aren’t operating inside the drum. Any ideas on where to find a replacement or fix this?
Looking to buy some mud tires to put on my 14" XP wheels. I already have a trail tire on a set of 12" factory wheels. I only have a 570 so I don’t want to bite off more than it can chew.
So for 14" wheels in a 28" you have:
Mega Mayhem 28"x9 33lbs 11" 35lbs
Terminators 28"x10" 44lbs
Zillas 28"x9" 23lbs 11" 26lbs
Executioners 28"x9" 27lbs 11" 32lbs
There might be other 28"s mud tires out there I don’t know about though.
For 14" wheels on 30"s theres a much larger selection but I’m only going to mention the ones Im interested in
Monster Mayhem 30"x9" 38lbs 10" 40lbs
Zilla 30"x9" 25lbs x11 30lbs.
Silverback 30×9 39lbs 11" 42lbs
So the Mega Mayhems and Zillas run small from what most people say. 28"s actually measure 27"s but I’ve heard not on 14"s so conflicting reports. They’re also not quite a pure mud tire. But, I bet they’re better all around ride smoother and are less stressful on the machine.
The Monster Mayhems and Silverbacks, the Silverback run way small. A 30×9 runs more like a 28.5" with <6psi in it. The Monster Mayhems apparently measure very true.
I’m leaning more towards the 30×9 silverbacks on all 4 corners because the weight to size to aggresiveness seems like it would be ideal but I’m worried it might be too much. So I figured I’d ask anyone with experience to help me out. I’m sure bearclaw HTR’s are great, but I just want to hear about mud tires.
Hey guys, first post so bear with me. I’ve got a totally stock 2015 grizzly 700 and am putting 26" bighorns on 14" rims on soon. My question is will I need a programmer if all I want to do is snorkel it? I’ve not been impressed enough in the past with exhaust/programmer power gain for the money so I don’t really care to install one unless it’s necessary to keep my Grizzly happy and reliable. Thanks in advance for any help! I tried searching the forum first but couldn’t really find what I was looking for, again though I’m new so if I missed a thread and this has already been covered then my apologies.
it’s that time of year again. Time to start talking about what we think we’ll see in the new releases for 2018.
Now, I’d like to encourage this thread to stay realistic. we’re not going to see a 4 cylinder 2000 cc machine, or a 1000 cc 2 stroke, or anything like that.
But it would be nice to see what people would like to see on next years models that could actually happen.
I think that we might see an 850/1k Utility machine. With the updated plastics on the 850/1k I don’t see them doing much there save maybe moving to LED lights up front or updating the plastics of the touring models of those machines.
We may see a small bump in HP in the 570 models.
Colors options are always options that can be easily changes for model years. I really wish they’d look at other options than Green & Red for the "standard" options. The blue looks good, and the Orange and Yellow that were available last year were nice as well. I’m also still a big fan of the white machines as well.
I still think they are skipping a large section of the market by not having any sort of midsize machine options available in the 300-500 cc range. I really think a midsize frame with 2 different power plant options would fit nicely into the market for those riders that are younger, but larger in stature but still shouldn’t be on a 570/850, or for those of smaller stature that just don’t fit well on the fullsize machines. I’d like to see a two HP options something in the 20-25 HP range, and something in the 30-35 HP range. a 30-35 HP midsize 4×4 ATV would be a blast. But I highly doubt we’ll see a midsize machine.
Hey i was looking at ordering a 3 inch lift for my scrambler, so whats everyones thoughts on the outkast 3 inch and the catvos 2.5? i seen people have trouble with both’
I am looking for a back shock replacement for my 98 recon. I upgraded my old dry rotted tires for some 2016 rancher tires. I am getting a little bit of rub i am looking for a better back shock. I have heard that the lifts kits arent the best for the atv. Any help would be appreciated. Ive read thru the posts and cant seem to find out much info before i posted this to you all.

I was replacing the rear bushings on my 08 sportman 500 HO like a month ago, and for the most part it was relatively straight forward, and painless.
Until I got to the ?upper a-arm? (not sure if that’s what it’s called), and the bushings between that and the frame. I cannot remove the bolts holding it on, because when I attempt to slide the bolt out, the head of the bolt hits the boot around the axle. To me it seems like they must be in backwards, because if they were in the other way, this wouldn’t be an issue.
Can anyone confirm that this is/is not normal?
Not sure what the best course of action is; I figure it’s likely easiest to buy new bolts, and cut the heads off the bolts that are in now. Thoughts?
Hey guy I know this is a commander forum but wanted to pick some brains on a problem I am having with my 2016 cam am xmr 650. After going threw a good sized puddle my can am lost acceleration.The engine is fine and running great thought maybe water got into the engine but it didn’t. Already changed spark plugs and oil just incase but oil was not milky at all. The highest mph I have got this four wheeler to since is about 20 feels like a baby four wheeler.
