After buying an 01 Grizzly a month or so ago and rebuilding the top and bottom end, i found a 2000 Kodiak for cheap. the owner could not get it started. it had spark, fuel & good compression but would not hit a lick. so i gambled on what i thought it was. got it home and the next evening pulled the flywheel and yep. the woodruff key was sheared. timing was off about forty degrees. Took the key from my Grizzly that was waiting on parts, and put it in the crank, reasembled the mag end and maybe spun over 2 times before it fired up and purred. all gears including 4 wheel drive work. no engine or transmision noise. no smoke. front outer cv joint popps a little in tight turn but already have a new one ready for replacement. replacing the coolant this week.

Ok, an update since i last posted in July. i picked up a 01 grizzly 600 that needed a top end. after taking off the cylinder i determined the connecting rod had a little more end play than i cared for. sent the cylinder and crankshaft off to Nflow for new oem piston and new sleeve. also had the crank rebuilt. after a carb rebuild she fired up and runs fine.

Had the quad out on a 80 mile, mostly gravel road, trip yesterday… It seems to be cutting out once it gets hot. Once it sits and cools down its fine. Full fuel tank. Roll over valve bypassed. If you manage to get through the bogging and get to high rpms it stops doing it, but as soon as you let off the gas and decelerate, it bogs bad once you get back on the throttle.
Not sure where to start with fixing it. This is the first issue ive had with it that it wasn’t a obviously common issue that id already seen around the forums.
2013 Outlander XT 1000
The multifunction gauge stoped working. LCD readings do not light up at all. No Speedo, shift indicator, warning lights, etc.
Speedo needles still light up any time the key is on, and quad starts and runs great.
I would like to save $350 and and do self diagnosis/repair if possible.
Are there some wiring diagrams and maybe circuit descriptions/a pin out for the speedo gauge?
Im rebuilding a 4 wheeler that uses 2 stroke oil.
the canister is still full of oil. I’m not sure how long the oil have been in the canister. is the oil still good to use or should i just dump it out and replace it
I can’t make out what this substance is based on smell and feel. It is coming out of the duct that runs down the frame and into the top of the CVT. It is getting on the inside of the top cover of the electronics. You can see the end of the duct when removing the cover. I only noticed it lately riding in the summer months. Any ideas what this is and is this common? There is also another duct that comes out of the CVT area that runs along side of this duct, but if points downward and doesn’t have this substance coming out of it. These ducts are not affiliated with the airbox so it can’t be air filter oil.
I purchased new, and 8 years later I encounter my first problem. During start up with key turned halfway I would always hear a sound engaging something. Shortly afterwards I press start button and take off.
Well, now no sound – no start. Does anyone what part this may be so that I can replace?
