2016 Kodiak reports

Thinking of getting a 2016 Kodiak Camo with ESP for my Queen. No diff lock isn’t a big deal.

The dealer is offering $8000.00 OTD
Plus $2800-3000 for the Queens 2011 450 Griz on trade.
The 450 has 13000+ miles on it. Needs a few repairs maybe $100-125. Front brakes and rear a-arm bushings.

I rode one recently. I like the 2013 frame size because of the tight areas we ride. I have plenty of 18-20 gr roller weights and 2ndy springs around to convert it to a trail machine.

I feel that I know the machine fairly well but not owning one or knowing anyone who owns one leaves a little mystery.

2016 Kodi owners…what are your likes and dislike?

Thanks!

Plastics fitment ?

Just got the grizz home last night . I noticed the battery compartment cover does not like to stay tight to what used to be the gas tank. There is a molded groove in the body panel that holds it tight to what used to be the gas tank. I can press down on the cover and set it in place ,ride a little bit and it pops loose , obviosly it doesn,t hurt any thing just wondering if this common ?

660 carb sticky float?

So we’re leaving later today for a weekend trip and I thought my wheeler was running good until I went to move my wheeler and when I go wide open throttle she bog’s down but I can feather the throttle no problem and if I slowly increase it opens up. Wondering if this is a float sticking or if the carb is just gummed up still.

New member trying to decide wich Sporstman to buy

Hey I’m new here I been riding trails for a few years. I ride a little duel sport motorcycle a Yamaha TW200 (it’s more like a two wheeled ATV then a dirt bike). I LOVE the goofy machine and have no intentions of replacing it. BUT last year I picked the wife up a used cheap beater quad that I fixed up for her to try and see if she would enjoy joining me on my off road trips.

Well turns out she loves it BUT hates the shifting gears and that old Suzuki is a bit finicky at times. So we are in the market for a new ATV for her that’s auto simple to use, comfy, reliable and fun. Power really is not a concern as she’s only ever riding with me on my TW and we take it slow. Don’t really see mud mostly sand and rock trails. Likly may use it for plowing our two car driveway but even the 2wd 250 could pull that off most days.

She loves the comfort and style of the Polaris sportsman 570 we looked at in the dealer the other day. But I’m torn on getting her that or a 2016 450 HO

The 450 may run cooler being a lower tune and the 13 hp difference is not an issue for our use. BUT being a one year model has me wondering.

We are also limited by tow vehicle. As I have a Toyota Tacoma and a 4′ by 7′ trailer (bike goes in truck ATV in trailer). Trailer measures exactly 49" wide and 85" long). Is the 450 any physically smaller than the 570?

Thanx for any help you can offer.

With or with IRS???

Hello.

I am looking to buy Kodiak 4X4 this weekend. I thought I found the one I wanted. 2003 Kodiak 450. Needs a small amount of work to it but it the guy is not lining, I should be in good shape. I was told I would not be able to come get it tell Sunday.

So I started thinking I need to find a back-up just in case something happens and as I was looking I found a 2005 with IRS. Not being big into ATV for many years, I did not know that they make them that way.

Well it got me thing a lot and now I am not sure what I need to get.
Been on google a lot and did read that some like it and some dont. from what I read did not get a lot in detail so I am here thing what way should I go.

In my mind I am kinda wanting to go with IRS. Just because its newer and it looks good. But on the other side I am thinking the price point for the 2003 is 1650.00 and its more into my range. The 2005 I started looking at is 3200.00.

Now I want to know if its something I need to look more into? I know I do not want to buy the 2003 and then wish I bought the 2005 with IRS.

So I am looking at Pro’s and Con’s on both of them. Any info will be very helpful. Thank you all for your time.
