Got a 2014 550EPS. When i put it in reverse to the left, theres this terrible sound, like a metal clinking sound. Only does it in reverse, and under load. Also, the bar right before the boot is wet looking, but no tears or punctures in the boot? Any ideas? Doesnt seem to be the diff, i can almost feel it in the left rear tire.

I just got back a couple of days ago from a great ride out in Silverton Colorado.
My oldest boy and I coming from Missouri met with others from California, New Mexico and locals from the great state of Colorado.
We rode 5 days covering most of the major passes in that area excluding Black Bear and Ophir Pass. We had 5 days of blue skies with no rain. It was still a little early for the Aspens to be full yellow but they were still beautiful to say the least. Here are a few pictures from the ride.
We stayed in Silverton at small motel called the Triangle motel. It was clean and right on the OHV route. Parking was a little bit of a challenge but if you haven’t been to Silverton parking is a challenge about everywhere.
We even managed to see one of the locals (Ridgway) on top of Corkscrew Pass. It was good to see Ridgway in the mountains in his usual habitat.
On top of Engineer Pass
Looking into Yankee Boy Basin
Gold Lake at the end of Arrastra Gulch
The magnificent 7 at Kite Lake
Wgc skipping across the headwaters of the Rio Grande
Coming down Kendall Mountain overlooking Silverton

Hey guys I’m new to the forum as well as a new 2016 XMR 1000R owner as of this past Monday. I think I have read every post here associated with the exhaust heat issue. Here is my question, I have NO plans of replacing the factory exhaust as I want it as quiet as possible. What is by far hands down the best thing or things I can do to protect my new investment from melting or possibly burning down. I wish I would have done a little research before the my purchase and I may have made a different purchase as this terrifies the hell out of me. I have only rode it 3-4 miles and can tell you just in that time there was a lot of heat coming from the left side panel/seat area.
Would installing a vforcejohn PCV and wraps be efficient or go as far as a fan mod plus PCV plus wraps
Don’t even want to start it after reading all this, I have gone out tonight to take a look and everything is as its suppose to be. But I just don’t want to take any chances. TIA
Something I wanted to ask about running premium fuel with no ethonal. Would this damage the engine or cause problems with ECM? Any one running this? I hate ethonal and all the water problems it brings to the table.
