Hi, sorry if this topic has been covered, I’m brand new as of 10 minutes ago. I just bought a 2012 Grizzly 550 (non EPS). The machine is a cream puff, 50 hours, 200 miles and it is amazingly clean. When I was looking at it to buy it over the weekend, I noticed the display would not change from 4wd back to 2wd after pressing the button even though I rode it up and down the street. The bike is clean enough that I wanted it and I figured it would be something easy. I just went through it, oil and oil filter, air filter, dumped the gas, sea foam’d the intake, etc. It still wouldn’t turn off the 4×4 on the display so I threw it on a jack and sure enough, the front tires were spinning, so it wasn’t just the indicator light, it was not coming out of 4×4. The diff lock came on and off with the button as it should. As I sat there thinking about it while it was idling, I heard the servo come on and the display went to 2wd (ever heard of that movie "Christine" from Stephen King :). So I put it back on the jack and the front wheels were not moving while giving it throttle – so I confirmed it was in 2wd. I took it for a ride and it was great. I stopped in the trail, put it in park, shifted to 4×4, road it, stopped again, put it in park, shifted back to 2wd, rode it,,,, everything was great. I came home to take my daughter for a ride and noticed that while idling, I could hear a servo engaging. I looked at the dash and every few seconds, but randomly, it was shifting from 4wd to 2wd and back. It made me nervous so I rode it easy – probably shouldn’t have ridden it at all. When moving, it stayed in 2wd but when I came to a complete stop, it went into 4wd. I would press the button on the bars to 4wd and back to 2wd and it would shift back to 2wd. This scared me enough that I brought it home and parked it. Has anyone heard of this before. I read articles that said sometimes the machine will take a while to shift out of 4×4 – you need to drive a bit. That’s not the case here since it was shifting back and forth while the machine was parked… Almost like the idle was strong enough that it was shaking the vehicle slightly enough to make a wire jiggle and engage something. It is idling like a dream but the motor is decent size so you can feel the atv "trembling" while idling and I thought maybe that was causing a loose wire or dirty connection to make contact. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. My best guess is that a connection is dirty and needs to be cleaned or a wire is loose. The guy lost his riding area 1.5 years ago and it hasn’t really been used since. He said the last few miles were just from him taking it for a 1/2 mile ride once a month to keep everything lubed up so, even though it hasn’t been used, it wasn’t really stored, it was just sitting in his garage. Has this ever happen to you?? Thanks!!!!
Sloppy Front Axles
2013 850HO XP, Put Rhino axles in when new, 2k miles on machine and I noticed where the axles go into the splines ( front Diff) there is a lot of play almost like something is worn. The bearing is tight and doesn’t move around, I put the stock axle (which is still new) in and that has the same movement (a lot) anyone got any thoughts on this??

100 mile break in oil change
did my 100 mile break in oil change, drained everything out best i could, about 3 L drained, so i added back 3L. The dipstick is at the full mark, but technically not overfull, i read its best to have it half way between full and the bottom part. Anyway to get a little bit out? or should I not worry about it, its not out of the x zone but i feel like it ran a little hotter after I changed the oil. Maybe im just being paranoid. Any advice on if i should measure it cold or hot? I might just take it to service station when my trailer arrives, im not too confident i torqued it right since i put it back on by hand.
Then theres the front and rear diff to do and im not sure about the procedure for that even though i have the proper oil. Busted a few knuckles doing that oil change. 🙁
Used oil fades plastics? How to fix?
Got a brand new ’16 foreman had some oil on my hands while doing an oil change one thing that made me mad was i broke a tab on the bottom near the foot shift while removing plastics to switch out the oil filter, then i stood up and touched the atv and oil got on part it was the used oil. Touched my plastics and tried to wipe it off and the piece I touched looks faded and dull now compared to the other side that never touched oil. I have that black deluxe color. I tried cleaning with detergent soap and i tried some vinegar, din’t make a difference. Now im worried my new ’16 foreman will look dull. Whats the best way to bring back that factory shine? Worst case scenario how much are new black (deluxe) plastics for the ’16 model?
Oil in tb and intake sensors
I have been chasing a problem for a while with my bike running rich. First fault to come from ecu was tps. Took to dealer and they reset the tps. Bike ran fine but still rich. Dealer said faulty tb. So that just ended all dealings with the local dealer. The bike has sat for 5 months since it went to dealer. I pulled the airbox this weekend. Pulled the injectors and hooked them up outside the engine. They don’t over spray, dump fuel or leak when pressured.
Then I did a compression check and got 180 on rear cylinder and 177 on front. Leak down test was also good. So i went back to airbox. Smells like oil. None on my air filter. Pulled the tb off and removed tps and iac valve. Found oil on the iac valve. I then pulled the map sensor. It also has oil on it..
Couldn’t these two sensor be the culprits? If they have oil on them they will not read correctly.
I have had the bike on its side 1 time and it was before I had the issues. Also after it was on its side I got a lot of oil from the airbox drain tube..
Looking for the proper trailer to two 2 ’16 foreman 500s
I am new to the forums, what brings me here is I am a new foreman owner, I just picked up a 16′ deluxe model. I am going to get my lady one too, in a few months. I’m going to go ahead and buy a trailer that holds two. So what I’ve been looking at the Northstar Unistar ATV Trailer Kit its 6 x 9 3/4′, but i think its too small the other one i was looking at is a Northstar Sportstar II 9′ x 6 1/2′ which says it holds two but im also thinking it still might be too small.
