1up Sportsman backrest

I have seen the lock and ride backrest for the sportsman but it is unclear if it can be put in without the box. Can someone verify that you can have the backrest without the box? Also does anybody have a pic of this? Or a pic of a 1up Sportsman with a different backrest.

Low Gear Won’t Engage

I recently got a 1997 Polaris 6×6 that I’m going over, cleaning up and starting to use… Hi and Reverse work OK (new to these machines so I don’t know how it SHOULD do) but anyhow when I try to use LOW: shift lever moves, the linkage and shift ear on outside of trans both move but the gears inside don’t engage… Before you say the engagement collar is busted inside– I took the transmission apart and on the bench it shifts in and out of gear OK– but when I put it back into the ATV… Same thing: HI and Reverse work OK, but it takes a BUNCH of fiddling with it to get it to engage into LOW.
Guy I got it from said that in all the time he had it He doesn’t recall having ever even shifted into LOW for anything. But for what I plan on using it for I think that LOW might be a must-have. Any Thoughts???

Change in situation = Construction questions

Ok, so "I’m heading for the bid D, and don’t mean Dallas." luckily for me, I get the truck and we’re selling the palace. so that means I’m going to have to find new accommodations. Everything in the area I want to buy in, at the price I want to pay is in pretty horrible condition, and lacking in one way or another to the point where I’m just not willing to buy something that is already standing. I have the option and ability to live temporarily in a couple different locations, so I could build something. Land costs aren’t to bad. but my issue comes with the actual building, and what I want to do there.

I’m a DIY type of guy. I have the skills and ability to do every part of a home build. from plumbing & Electrical, to insulation, framing, and concrete. I can even do metal work. Not that I’d be doing all of these myself, but I know enough people in the trades to be either get them to help, or hire them out for the job.

And that brings me to the actual question. I’m trying to figure out if I want to build a stand alone house, and the build a shop later, or build a shop that is large enough that I can build a 1600 sq ft home in the second story. I have shop plans that had 800 sf rec room, and 800 sf of unfinished storage in the plans. I could easily convert that into living space. But want I want to know is would that be more expensive than just building the house on its own? The cost of the metal shop structure without electrical & plumbing was about $35k. and I figured it would cost me another $40k for concrete, framing, plumbing, electrical, doors, etc. to finish out the build for the rec room & storage. I’m hoping to do a 3 bedroom home in the second floor now if I’m going to get the cost savings I’d need to be able to pull it off. I know a lot of that will come down the the materials I use in the home construction. What I’m asking is if anyone thinks it could be possible to do the entire build for under $150k?

WARN winch mount ?

I have the warn winch mount ,warn plow mount. This is kicking my butt try to mount this ! I did get it mounted with some difficulty. When i went to put the bumper back on i was able to bolt in the bottom bumper legs. When i went to attach the upper bumper legs they were an inch away of lining up to the frame attachment . So i was able to push up on the bumper and got close to the bolt holes, but not enough. Then i got a strap out and and a engine hoist and was able to lift enough to get the bolts into the upper frame ,geez! Next step bolting the winch mount to the front tabs on the bumper, can not get the carriage bolts in, misaligned by a goood 1/4 inch . I can file out the winch plate hole so i can get a bolt in . Anybody run into alignment problems ? Thinking the winch mount is not bent at the correct angle. Do i take it all apart and start from scratch , get a new winch mount hoping that would be better fit,or file out the holes and be done with it ? Im a little concerned about how much pressure it took to get bumper it self back on the bike , its on for now . Your input will appreciated . Thanks Don ps 2016 model

What do you guys keep in your ATV rack bag

Hey guys,

I just bought a rear pack for my Rancher and wondered what you kept in there or what stays in there for sure for every ride. I will be using mine for hunting but I do need ideas of what general things I should have in there? I am thinking plugs in case of flat tires, small socket set, tp, compass, I don’t have an 12volt outlet yet but I was thinking a mini air compressor. what else do you guys keep in there?
