99 honda 300fwd problem got spark no fire

Put new carb on ran fine went out riding and sucked some dirt in it we thought. Was running bad got it home and it quit running. Pulled carb off cleaned was dirt in it. Now it wont start got new plug got great spark no fire. Did put a little gas in plug hole put plug in fires. Try to start with carb no fire you can crank it choke it think its flooded but pull plug and its dry as a bone. Just starting with carb on no air cleaner it looks like gas spitting out the back of carb. Put air box on same result no fire.

soft front brakes

hey all. so my front brakes are very soft. first squeeze i can get the lever all the way to the handlebars without much resistance at all. but if i pump them, they tighten up and the brakes work as they should…. but then after a few minutes, they are soft again.

i checked the fluid in the master cylinder and its full.

hoping not to just throw parts at it.

thanks all.

Oil and coolant types?

I recently read that Rotella T6 5W40 synthetic is a great oil for the Traxter engine and transmission. Anyone have experience with the best oil for these machines? Been using regular 5w40 oil, but thinking synthetic might be better for the tranny?

I’ve had mine about 2 years and thinking it’s about time to be changing the coolant even though it still looks and tests ok. Can’t find any info in the manual beyond "Can Am coolant", so wondering if it is something special, or if good ‘ol Prestone will work just fine?

Greetings from western Colorado!

Retired guy here. Been riding dirt bikes for 50+ years and swore I’d never get a machine with 4 wheels. Well, I’m here to say that I have broken that oath. And, thanks to the Mrs. for her encouragement, I sold my last two bikes and bought a 2016 Sportsman 450 H.O. Hate to admit it, but after 60 miles on the Roan Plateau Sunday, I kinda like the thing.
Anywho, I joined on to this outfit to garner some atv knowledge regarding accessories…winch, back storage, a cover and such.
