84 trx 200 shifting/axle issues.

Hey guys I just picked up an 84 trx 200. Its got some issues so I thought I would join the forum to get some help and ideas on it. So the first problem is that it wont shift into neutral. When you move the shift lever it will usually pop shift into one gear, but it will only go up or down once. It wont shift into neutral. The shift lever seems to have a lot of play, I tried adjusting the free play and it did not really change the free play i it. I am planning on taking the clutch cover off to see if anything looks broken or worn. So anyone knows some things to look for and check out it would be greatly appreciated. The other issue is with the axle, I noticed a wobble when filling the rear right tire with air. I looked at the axle and it has a little gap in it, really close to where the tire mounts too. I will post some pictures to show what it looks like. I am not really sure what would cause that, maybe the nut just needs to be tightened more to close that gap. Thanks in advance for any help!

2003 Rincon Coolant Leak/Overflow

Hi guys,

I was on a trip this weekend and had some strange behavior from my Rincon. I have a 2003 Rincon 650. I topped off the coolant to the high mark after warming it up, as well as checked the oil before my trip.

I was at high altitude outside Georgetown, CO, around 11k feet. I got a bit bogged down in some deep snow. I put it in 4wd, and set to manual 1st gear. With some rocking and spinning of the tires I was able to get through the snow. Shortly afterwards I noticed that "sweet" smell that antifreeze gives off.

Some coolant was leaking out, but I was unable to determine where it was coming from, and shortly after my temperature warning light came on. I shut it down for 15 minutes, and let it cool. Thankfully it was 40 degrees out. During this time period my coolant resivoir refilled to the low, but this was at cool temperatures. After I restarted it, I didn’t get any high temperature warnings, but it was definitely warm.

Is it normal to leak coolant as the engine gets hot in situations with low airflow such as being stuck? I’ve inspected my hoses and radiator, and I can’t seem to find any leaks when it’s idling. I’m concerned about being in the middle of nowhere and having a severe leak, especially this time of year.

Any ideas on how to diagnose the issue?

Thanks in advance,

Todd

Grizzly 600 secondary spring weight?

Hi. New member to the forum but I’ve been using it to research for a while and it seems like an awesome place. Also, I have 3 Yamaha quads so it only makes sense to finally join.

I’m doing a complete frame off restoration to a 2001 Grizzly 600. I’ve done some mods to the engine, including: Weisco 10:1 piston, bored to 635, Web Camshafts #387 grind cam, head mildly ported, header pipe welds ported, 6Sigma jet kit, DG exhaust. I probably will run 26 or 27" Mud Bugs but haven’t decided yet.

I’ve come to part of the resto where I’m going through and rebuilding the clutchs, both wet and dry systems. I’ve done a lot of research and I think I have a fairly good grasp of how to modify and how the cvt system works. One thing I haven’t been able to find is the rate of the stock secondary spring and how it compares to the after market EPI spring colors.

Does anyone here know what the stock rate is? Which EPI spring would be a step up from stock or if you have a color recommendation that would be appreciated.

Edit: I’m not an overly aggressive driver but the quad will seem some mud, heavy pulling, and slow going in rough terrain. I like to have fun but it will also be worked hard on occasion.

Fuel issue

My 2013 850 XP is having a fuel problem. It smells like there is a fuel leak but I stripped the plastic off and checked after ridding for a leak but no such luck. Still could smell fuel but there is no leak. Seems to be comming through the exhaust but the plugs are a little lean, almost a hint of white. But the exhaust tips are tan brown not the normal black. I’m stumped. Any help would be great. Thanks.
