new member from Illinois

i had purchased an 1985 trx70 for my grandson 3 years ago . now i have picked up an 85 trx 125 . the 125 has been setting for 15 years or so , but i cleaned the carb and put in a new plug and battery it started up and ran fine , but smoked . the 70 after 3 years of pretty hard yard riding is started to smoke also . over the years i have been familar with plenty of 2 stroke motorcycles , but never a 4 stroke . i was wondering when i tear into these , is there anything that i should be aware of ? i figure i’ll have plenty of questions along the way , so i will thank all of you in advance ,thank you . 2015 Renegade 500 (Front Left Axle/CV broken)

I’ve spent the last two weeks searching and still either cannot find with part I’m looking for, or can’t get confirmation the part will actually work or not for my quad.

I can find the part all over for around $70 up to $100. Most say will not fit 2015, some say they will, but part numbers are different on some pages, and the same on others. Can Am lists it for around $300, with yet again a different part number. :th_smiliepullhair:

Can some one PLEASE help me find the front left axle with cv joints for my wife’s 2015 Renegade 500…(that I broke) …for less then $300 preferably.

Thanks in advance!

2003 Sportsman 400 Running Problem

Ok,I usually have a quick look around and see if I can find an answer for a problem i’m having, but just throwing this out there while I have a look around,to see if anyone has come across the same prob.

Bike is a 2003 Sportsman 400 non-HO….that seems to have an intermittent spark problem. The bike started with a bucking, bogging problem,so I assumed dirty carb. Took it off,was very clean, but went over it good anyway, drilled out brass plug, removed pilot screw, cleaned everywhere, set floats, cleaned out the gas tank and screens on fittings on tank, new petcock(cuz plastic ones SUCK,and break almost every time u need to get lines off :ugh: )..all new gas lines…took fuel pump apart and cleaned…new spark plug…new gas..

Start it up…same thing…bogging down..skipping and dying out at idle..just generally running like crap…

So set the valves, and noticed some scoring on the exhaust lobe, and know these have probs….So order up the new cam and exhaust rocker kit..install it yesterday….AND STILL THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM..:ugh:

So while i’ve got it running in garage…skipping and dying out…I can hear a clicking among the wiring at the front, thats under the front hood.It really sounds like its coming from the coil…and every time it starts with the clicking, thats when it starts running like crap….it will run fine for couple secs, then hear it start clicking and the bike will die.

I looked over the plug wire while I had it tore down,as read on here before about probs with rubbing behind the tank, but wasn’t wore anywhere.

I’m going to go out here shortly and go through the electrical tests in the manual, hopefully i’ll find something.

Just hoping someone might have had the same prob, and can chime in what it ended up being…these things have so much extra electrical crap compared to other manufacturers.

No temperature gage on display? Really?

I must be missing something. I have a 2015 1000 XTP Max and it has a nice display with clear temperature gauge. I found it very useful and it alerted me to low coolant level before things got serious. I recently purchase a companion 2017 650 XT MAX as well. I love the machine in every way. But one of the first things I checked out on the different display was the location of the Temperature gauge and I find none. Please tell me that I’m just overlooking it somehow. I looked in that manual and saw no reference to a gauge. Say it ain’t so!!

Sportsman/Scrambler Compatibility

I had a bit of a crash and have to do some repairs on my 2016 Scrambler 1000. I’m new to the Polaris brand, but it is my understanding that the Scrambler and Sportsman share a majority of the same components. I’ve called my local dealer and they, of course, say that they’re completely different. While shopping around for parts I’ve noticed that Sportsman parts are considerably cheaper than Scrambler parts. I know there aren’t as many Scramblers out there so it makes is seem artificially rare.

Does anyone know for certain if they do share components?

I’m specifically replacing control arms, axle, hub, knuckle, brake line, and a couple misc. bits. They look the exact same when comparing pictures, but want to be certain before buying anything.

Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated!
