My Dad is wanting to buy a 17′ 1000 around the first of the year. Is there any problems that he needs to be aware of? I know the exhaust on the 15’s was hot and melting plastics. Is that still a problem and are there any others?
He’s retired and this will be his first and last new wheeler. He riding a 96 500 Explorer now, nice upgrade [emoji1303]
So I was fiddling with my ATV today, put in a new electric plug (cigarette lighter plug) so I could charge my phone when needed. The old one had quit working.
My speedometer glass is a bit fogged and hard to read, but I noticed today that I’m at 13,??? miles. I’ve never really paid too much attention to it because it’s hard to read but that kinda surprised me. But when I think about it I suppose that probably about right.
The Sportsman 500 H.O. Is a 2002, so that’s about 900 per year. It has a couple rattles here and there but still runs like a champ.
My buddies are trying to talk me into a new Can-Am, but I’ve had such good luck with this, I have a hard time justifying a new $10,000 machine!
The only thing I’ve really needed to fix in all those years is a belt, and the pull-start recoil. I’ve recently added some new tires, and upgraded to some L.E.D. Lights, and a new winch. But I’m very happy with this machine!
We trailered them over to WI 2 weeks ago and put on about 250 miles in 3 days, then I put on another 50 miles of local riding here in MN last week.
