I have a 2000 Scrambler 500 4×4 with everything stock. The belt was slipping so much it was hardly rideable. I put a new belt with no luck and now I have replaced the primary clutch and it still has a good amount of slipping.
Is it possible I just ruined the new belt and that’s why it’s slipping now?
I did get the new belt pretty hot prior to putting the new clutch on. I was pretty far from the house when it began slipping very badly.
It does alway seem to slip around the same area of the clutch, which is about 3/4 the way up the plate.
There is 2 1/4" Deflection which seems a lot, but it tightens up nicely as I give it throttle.
When it’s in neutral, it doesn’t slip at all. Only slips under load (my body weight). I don’t weight that much. 190lbs.
The cluth alignment seems to be fine. Spacing is even on both sides of the belt.
These foam filters must have gold particles in them. Has anyone used aftermarket foam filters or K&N style re-usable filters with out having to re-jet?
I see moose makes after market foam ones for a 1/4 of the price and pods for a bit more. But my experience with pods are that they can be a PITA for tuning the carb, as it usually warrants new jets…
The brass bushing under the jet carrier (I believe it is the slow jet) on 98 Honda foreman 400 carb one side is tapered the other is flat what way goes down in the carb?
So like the title says, has anyone successfully put portals on a grizzly yet? I’ve tried searching and have not had any luck finding any one that has. I’ve seen a couple Hondas done but it took quite a bit of modding to do so. Now some of you might ask why bother, well, I’ve liked the portal idea since they came out. I’ve always ran "big" lifts on my bikes but I am always looking for more bottom end and the 30-60% reduction is right up my alley!
Now I know they don’t make them for the grizzly and they probably never will, but looking at the mount satv has for the viking and wolverine, it appears to be pretty easy to modify to the grizzly. The question is the cv axle spline count and shaft diameter, anyone have any info on this and any chance it’s the same?

Here’s the short story, I have a 100 % complete 02 with top half of motor almost down with new bore all OEM parts including timing chain, guides. It’s all apart and frankly I don’t have time to finish, I, just recovering from 2nd back surgery on Monday the 17th. The other was a roller I bought from a dealer with BOS only for needed parts, thats the 03 with no motor, I have bodywork, diff, axles, wiring, radiator ,,etc.
I can pack and ship pretty easy and just need to move it. If I finish motor it will be 100%. I was a Yamaha dealer from 97-02 so I know these like the back of my hand, I use only OEM parts.
The easiest was is to either call me and I can’t look and take pic or text me .
I guarantee you more than fair prices.
Thanks
Jim

I got this maverick off the Auction. Engine starts and idles ok, I’m able to put in transmission in gears: P, N, H, L. I can roll ATV around in the garage in N (neutral) gear. Put when in drive gear: H or L…. it takes to push RPA’s to 3500-4000 for it to move. Belt is brand new, Primary STM pulley looked good. Secondary STM pulley is brand new. I tested pulleys and belt in N gear… seams to work fine – drive belt is being grabbed on in fairly low RPM. No visible underbody damage to gear box or shaft.
Question: A) Is this likely a Transmission issue??
And if it is, anybody you can recommend to refurbish transmission for me?
