2014 Sportsman XP 850HO jerking from a stop
I have a ’14 Sportsman XP 850 HP with low miles and low hours. But it was ridden HARD (mud, water, alcohol, etc…) by my son.
The ATV jerks when applying throttle from a stop. I get up to about 1900 RPM before the clutch will engage. When it does engage, the ATV bucks and jerks. Once I get the clutch to engage. It seems to accelerate well.
I have some understanding of the workings of centrifugal clutches. Get to a certain RPM and the plates close on the drive clutch and open on the driven clutch.
I had the clutch cover off and nothing seemed to be broken and the belt was not frayed or missing teeth.
Where do I start?
Thanks in advance.

26x11x14 Maxxis Big Horn tires with 14" aluminum SS wheels (rear)
I also have the original black steel rims and tires it came with from the factory. These have been in my basement and not in the weather. I have changed the oil in it and also changed the gear oil in the front axle prior to adding the winch. This bike has really been taken care of. Please email me glockman125@gmail.com with any questions or appts to see the bike. Asking $5500.00 The bike is located in Hamilton Ohio
also have a Predator 90 for sale. I have a 2005 Polaris Predator 90 for sale. This was bought by me from a private owner that never had it in the mud, strictly road riding. The bike has been out a few times since I bought it in 2012 for my son. I changed all of the fluids and put brand new brake pads and brake cables on the front and rear last year. The bike has not been out this year yet, hence the reason I am selling it.
This was the first year Polaris put the rear shifting transmission in it making it easy for you to back out of an area if you need to. The headlights and brake light work as well as the horn. There is also a governor on it to hold the throttle back for younger riders. This bike was taken care of and is in nice shape for the year, asking $1000.00. Please feel free to email me for more information or to make an apt to see it.
Reason for selling these bikes is that we never ride them anymore! They did not get used at all in 16. Would make a great combo for a family that had time to use them. Thanks…
New member with rancher questions
I’m new to the forum and joined because I was looking for help with my new to me 07 rancher. Now, I hope I didn’t make a big mistake because I traded my practically new polaris razor 800s LE for the rancher and cash…. I never used my razor because it wasn’t enjoyable for me to ride. Trails are too tight in my area and I had to drive very slow in the woods and back up to make turns, etc, etc… So I took the rancher on trade and some cash to make the wife happy.
Anyways onto my questions. I’m looking for wheels and tires just because I don’t like the stock wheel look. There is a used set of wheels and tires for sale locally. They are 4×110’s and are on a suzuki atv. The tires are 26x8x14 on front and 26x11x14 on the rears. Will this size fit on the rancher??
Another question. I noticed after I traded and when I went to use the winch that there was an oil cooler tucked up underneath. The front of the cooler is packed pretty solid with mud and I also saw a fan behind it. I brushed the cooler off with a stiff scrub brush and I used the rancher for some yard work yesterday. It was probably 50 degrees out and windy. I did let it idling while I unloaded a trailer, and the whole day I used it and I never heard the fan come on…. Now that I found the oil cooler packed like that and I haven’t heard the fan come on, I’m hoping to god I didn’t screw up by trading and this machine has been run hot all the time. It seems to run fine, no smoke, no noises, but I’m no expert. Any advice on the fan? How to test it to see if it works or what could be wrong if anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
