2016 Sportsman 570. Is the heat issue fixed or not???

So I’ve been reading here, there, everywhere and I can’t seem to get a good answer or a solid answer if I have Worry about my plastics melting off my brand new 570. It’s a 2016 model 570 eps. I read that the late 15’s and newer Polaris’s had added heat shields to the exhaust and something to the seat and gas tank???? If they did that’s great, if not I’d like to prevent my plastics and leg hairs from melting off and try to do some kind of preventative repair so I’m not eating the cost of new parts on a new machine. Let me know what everyone has experienced on the 16′ and up models and if it’s still a problem what everyone is doing to fix it. Thanks!

Picked up my used/new 570 yesterday. I have a few ????

Hello everyone,
Some members may have been following my thread in the purchase and buying section but for those who haven’t I’ll give a background on my wonderful search for a nice, clean, atv. For those that don’t want to read the back story and just would like to help answer my questions skip to the next paragraph.. So I’ve been searching for months now for something, my budget started at $3500, but I could not find anything decent in that range. So I upped my budget and finally could get a lower mileage newer machine but everyone I dealt with had all these weird situations or simply didn’t cooperate with me to make a sale. So after finally thinking I had a deal on a 2016 orange 570 eps with @ 60mi on it for $5800 Wednesday night and the guy decided to tell me last minute that he had a loan on it and owed $6240 so he would be able to pay the remainder off for 2 or 3 weeks, I was about to throw in the towel. But I went back to craigslist once more. I usually search Polaris sportsman, or sportsman, this time I just typed Polaris. I shuffled through and found and add for a 2016 570 esp with Polaris winch for $5000 and all it said was it was new…. the add was 44 days old, so I thought something was up. When I talked to the guy and he insisted it was new, he had a clean and clear title/registration and it had 2 miles on it. I asked why he bought it and why he’d sell it so quick. He said he didn’t buy it, he won it at a gun raffle and already had a new honda foreman, so he didn’t need the 570. So I went to look and he wasn’t lying. It had 2.4 mi and it’s brand spanking new. I told him I’d take it immediately. So for $5000 in my area, I think I stole it and super happy!

Now questions, I am trying to cycle through the digital display. I guess there is supposed to be a mode button as the manual says, but they don’t show it and I can’t seem to find it. Can someone tell me or show me a picture of the mode button? It’s probably right in front of my nose but the garage has poor lighting and it was snowing like crazy yesterday when I brought it home.

Also, all Atv’s I ever owned had a lever at the back of the seat to remove the seat. From how I interpreted the manual this one does not?? You just yank up on the rear of the seat and it’s held on by clips?? I want to remove the seat because there is an annoying rattle coming from the plastic over the gas tank. I put pressure on the plastics and the rattle quites down. So I’d like to remove the seat to see why ther is a rattle in that area.

wait, another ??? I know forums show case complaints and issues, but is there anything I should do to this new atv now to save me from any damage, aggravation, time, money or buying parts in the future?

Lastly, I’m looking for a nice front bumper. What do you guys like to run for front bumpers? I searched the internet but most brands advertise their bumper and don’t even show it on a sportsman 570. So if you have a bumper on 570 that works well with the Polaris factory winch and possibly a plow someday please attach a picture if you could. Thanks everyone!

2017 Polaris sportsman 570

What does everyone think of the 570??? I can get a green or red 2017 for $5399. There is a small title and document fee, but I just can’t see paying $4,000-$5000 for a used machine with 500-1000+ miles when I can buy brand new with warranty for a few extra bills. I also have a chance to get a 570 with power steering. It’s a 2016 with 76 mi on it. Only issue is the guy says there is a loan on it, but he says he has a transferable registration which is what is issued for Atv’s in New York. So my question is, if I buy that machine, and he doesn’t pay the loan off, can anyone come after me because he didn’t pay?? Or will that be solely his problem to deal with? Both the new and used machine are 2.5-3hrs away. So I’m not worried about buying new from the dealer, I’m worried about the used one, paying for it, coming home and trying to register it and they say that there is a lien, or some kind of a red flag on their system not to allow it to be registered, then I’m screwed! Let me know what you guys think about the machine itself, the deals on them, and about the loan thing. Thanks!

Looking at buying a 01 sportsman 500ho

Hello everyone, I’m currently looking to buy a 01 sportsman 500ho. It is owned by a 80yr old man who is 5’4" tall and he says the only reason he is selling it is he simply can not steer it through his woods anymore. He said the machine is like new, everything works perfectly but the speedo and odometer. That’s where the problems start for me. Wouldn’t the 4×4 not work if the speedo is broke? He is also asking $3000 for the machine, and it looks very nice in the pictures he sent but $3000 is top dollar in my area for an 01 sportsman I think. Also with the odometers not working I couldn’t tell what it really has for mileage… He says the odometer currently reads 179mi. With all that being said it is nice and I would like to at least look at it and make him an offer unless everyone here feels I should stay away?? So looking for everyone’s help here to give me an estimate on what the speedo would cost to fix in worst case scenario, what you guys would offer on the machine, and what to look out for when I check the machine over on Friday. Most people I know dislike Polaris Atv’s, so I want to make and educated decision. Lastly, I’ll be using the machine for light trail riding, and yard work mostly. I just need a good reliable machine and sportsmans are all that I can really afford in my area. Thanks!

Sold my Rancher, in the market for a new ride

Hey Everyone,
As some may know I had a Polaris rzr800sle sxs and traded with cash added for a 2007 Honda rancher 400AT. I was told by the owner at the time of the trade that it was a 420 rancher and due to my lack of knowledge on these Honda’s I traded because the machine was pretty clean and everything seemed to work good on it. Well I joined here and found out that I screwed up royally. I like to modify things with bigger wheels and tires, I use my atv to pull stuff(15cu trailers of wood, and dirt, lawn roller on my hilly property) and I quickly found out that the machine I traded for needed to be left stock, treated very gently, and if I overworked the trans I was in for a big repair bill. Some said not to worry, but all I do now when I use it is worry and wonder if I’m overworking the trans…. So I placed it for sale because I don’t want a machine that is a ticking time bomb, or that I have to worry about… The 1st guy that came gave a deposit and is picking it up later this week. Now I have around $4000 budget and I’m looking to buy another machine. I would prefer 500 or more cc, lower miles, and fuel injection… Now, I have heard nothing but good things about Honda, until I apparently traded for the only lemon Honda made :icon_ cry:. So I’m looking to the experts here to point me in the right direction please! I will be doing general trail riding and yard work mostly with it. So let me know what everyone thinks I should get…. I am also not opposed to another brand atv, I know this is a honda forum, but I’m sure some people have or have owned other brand atv’s. I’m going for the best bang for my buck really. Here are a few local options, maybe everyone can critique them for me.. Thanks!

Wheel fitment

Hello Everyone,
I know this has probably been asked before, but I did a general search and nothing came up. I have an opportunity to buy a brand new take off set of yamaha grizzly 700 limited alloy wheels and tires for $400. I know the grizzly is a irs rear and my 07 rancher 400AT has a sra… But with a spacer will they work? What size spacer would it take? Anyone try a grizzly wheel before?? Trying to get a quick answer. I think it is a good deal, or maybe not? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

New member with rancher questions

Hello everyone,

I’m new to the forum and joined because I was looking for help with my new to me 07 rancher. Now, I hope I didn’t make a big mistake because I traded my practically new polaris razor 800s LE for the rancher and cash…. I never used my razor because it wasn’t enjoyable for me to ride. Trails are too tight in my area and I had to drive very slow in the woods and back up to make turns, etc, etc… So I took the rancher on trade and some cash to make the wife happy.
Anyways onto my questions. I’m looking for wheels and tires just because I don’t like the stock wheel look. There is a used set of wheels and tires for sale locally. They are 4×110’s and are on a suzuki atv. The tires are 26x8x14 on front and 26x11x14 on the rears. Will this size fit on the rancher??
Another question. I noticed after I traded and when I went to use the winch that there was an oil cooler tucked up underneath. The front of the cooler is packed pretty solid with mud and I also saw a fan behind it. I brushed the cooler off with a stiff scrub brush and I used the rancher for some yard work yesterday. It was probably 50 degrees out and windy. I did let it idling while I unloaded a trailer, and the whole day I used it and I never heard the fan come on…. Now that I found the oil cooler packed like that and I haven’t heard the fan come on, I’m hoping to god I didn’t screw up by trading and this machine has been run hot all the time. It seems to run fine, no smoke, no noises, but I’m no expert. Any advice on the fan? How to test it to see if it works or what could be wrong if anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, New member with a decision to make.

Hello everyone,
I recently traded a snap on tool box I had for a 2000 Polaris sportsman 335. The ATV appeared to be in pretty nice shape but after a good look over it has a few issues. I found that it needs new oil cooler hoses, the speedo is full of condensation and just stopped working last little ride I took around the yard, the rear brakes feel spongy and aren’t engaging, and I haven’t seen the oil cooler fan kick on yet, but its been cold, and I ride it for 10-15 min here and there. I also haven’t put it up on jack stands to check anything else yet, so more could be added to the issue list. The previous owner only used it to deer hunt, and it was stored outdoors under a porch awning year round. I don’t mind the sportsman, but I really wanted to trade my snap on box for a true sport atv because I already have a rzr800SLE to ride around for the 4×4 duties. I also Like to tinker with things, and upgrade things for better performance, and the 335 doesn’t allow for much tinkering, or performance at all. So I placed it for trade and was offered an 03 Polaris predator 500. The owner says the quad has had normal oil changes, and it runs and performs well. He says it starts hard in the cold weather because its an aluminum engine? but once started it runs good?? He also said it has @ 100 hrs on it and it hasn’t had any internal work done to the motor, clutch or anything. He has owned it since 05, bought it from the local Polaris Dealer, and says the only issue with it is it needs a temp sensor for the radiator, a $60 part, so the fan turns on. He said it operates fine without it, which worries me, because those cooling fans are there for a reason! But He insists its nice, except for the seat cover coloring is worn. I’m not sure If I should do it! I really want a sport quad, and this is the only offer I’ve had for a trade. Any advice from the pros on the forum to help the new guy out?? Thanks In advance!
