My brother-in-law called today at 4:30 and asked if I would be interested in helping him out. He wanted me to come out to the lake and plow some snow on the frozen lake to make a rink for my nephews to skate and play hockey. I’m not originally from MN and have exactly zero experience with making an ice rink so I thought this could be pretty fun. The whole idea of this is to make some very smooth ice to skate on rather than the cracked and heaved ice that covers the lake.
I hadn’t had time to put the stock wheels back on for this Winter’s plowing yet and the Reptiles just don’t really have good snow traction for plowing, so I swapped the wheels and loaded the Griz on the trailer. I was only plowing about 4-5 inches of snow but it still took a while as I could only take about half a blade worth of snow without spinning or sliding sideways on the ice due to the angled plow. My nephews really enjoyed riding along as I plowed and their Dad ran the snowblower to make the shape he wanted the rink to be. Eventually, we got it cleared and began drilling holes to run the pump to flood the rink. It was really fun watching the water flow and freeze right before my eyes at 7 degrees fahrenheit. His boys were very excited and it was really fun to watch from the perimeter as the memories were made. We will go back tomorrow to see how the ice turned out. Who knows, I might even throw on a pair of skates and see how it goes.
Here are a couple of pictures of the action. It was very rewarding to see the great lengths that my brother-in-law went to to create a special experience for his boys. They are going to grow up to be great Dads themselves one day, and no doubt, great hockey players.
My Evos came in the mail this morning so had a full fun day getting them mounted on the stock rims and on the machine. They definitely climb through the snow nice.
Ok i want to give people that are currently wondering what the differences are with an arctic mud pro 700 and an outlander 570 xmr. First things first i was the owner of a 700 mud pro 2012 and i liked my atv for awhile until i started riding with people who had can am’s. I found out pretty quick that arctic cat have no wheel speed in low range compared to can am. I you ride an arctic cat be prepared to replace your suspension bushing quite often they just dont last! Ok now for the comparison the arctic cat 700 has better take off till about 10 mph then after that you can tell that the outlander 570 has more hp and you can feel you are on a v twin engine. Bottom line i want through the same mud holes with my kitty cat and my xmr 570 and the xmr blows the cat away. I am truly happy i made the switch i went down 130cc’s and gained about 6hp and about 15 mph in low range. If anyone has any other questio s about the differences with both machines i will gladly give you all the info i have gathered.
Brand new machine has a leak somewhere and gets the belt wet tried taking the cover off making sure the seal is ok but still having the same problem. Anyone else had this?
Hello all. Shifts but won’t go into gear. I went through the manual diagnostic. It is code #5. And I further narrowed it down to the the reduction gear which Is rotated by the control motor. I took the control motor off and verified it does work. I tried to turn the reduction gear with a screwdriver but it will not turn like it should. According to the manual this means faulty transmission but it does not say what to do after that. Can anyone tell me where to go from here? Do I have to take the engine out and Crack it open? Or is there a way to free up the grear or fix the tranni without removing the engine. Thanks!
