Couple pics from Mill Creek summit and near by trails.. Glad to have the snow!!

I know i know its not good to go out by yourself when its just over 20 degrees with lots of snow, a grizz with over 7k "ridden hard" miles with about worn out growlers on her, and up to 8k ft in elevation 50+ miles away from the truck as fast as i could but i just needed some time to myself to go do some wolf hunting :peace:. I saw a TON of tracks today but couldn’t call anything in. 🙁 I hiked about 5 miles today in 4-15 inches of snow getting out on a few ridges to call a long ways from the wheeler and any trails. Had a great day even though i got skunked!!

I haven’t posted pic in a while thought i’d put a few up from Mill Creek Summit in ID and the west mountain trails.

I hiked down this ravine and followed that creek a good mile and a half before i set up my second call for the day. Awesome hike though the snow but didn’t call anything in but a few huge birds

And a few random shots of the grizz in the snow.

Hope everyone else is having a great weekend!! I’m just puttin a few back and thawing out the grizz for tomorrows ride in the snow haha

I love to look at Beaver:0

My son is such the outdoors man, hunting, fishing, trapping he is all about it. he just got these, 5 Beaver and river rats. It is to bad that fur prices are way down now but he does it just for a hobby and would like to get his license to trap for the state.

Police Auction Score

Local Sheriff’s Department held their annual auction for confiscated weapons last week. My better half turned me loose with a wad of cash and off I went. Picked up a new Winchester Mod 70 Featherlite in .270WSM with a Nikon Scope and a grade 4 Walnut stock for $300 and an LC Smith Field Grade Double in 90% condition for $200. They had over 300 weapons and most went for under $300. Think I’ll go again next year!

Hunting 2015 Part 2

Well deer season opened here yesterday and as some of you know my GF was hunting for the first time this year…. Well opening morning we found a nice buck and she will always have first shot even if it is bigger than any i have got, so she settled in to a laying position shooting down hill and i was back up… Her adrenaline was up so she was shakey and missed but i quickly followed up with a lung shot and dropped in his tracks…
So this morning we take off and go to the end of this road with a tree across and decide to walk the rest.. Well we were adjusting her shooting sticks and as we finished i heard some brush break and turned around and a 2 point came to see what we were doing and she dropped this one with a well placed shot… I’m a very proud BF right now…
While we were skinning it at camp my Pops and boy showed up and i told them about the does we seen and the boy can still legally shoot one so we went to see if they were still around but unfortunately they weren’t but on the way out we spotted 2 smaller bucks and just like last year Pops and the boy both dropped the 2 of them and they fell 15 feet apart AGAIN….. lol….. The boys was bigger this year(1×2) and Pops was a spike.. Opposite of last year and the boy is really rubbing it in to Pop(79 yrs old)… Great opening weekend but a lot of dressing and skinning out… Love these moments in life with family !!!!!!!!!!…. Enjoy the pics….

Bear Tracks

Anyways, I always like to stop in muddy areas and wander around with Boris, and see whats been out and about. I’m positive I came across bear tracks, and leaning towards a Grizzly cub over a black bear. The reason I believe this is how close the toes are together, and they are linear. Elk tracks next to the "supposed" grizzly.

Rode about 25 miles, checking on the larches (tamaracks) changing color (their needles), overcast. Aspen are done, but larches are later season. I rode out of the garage, 3 miles to NF boundary, then in the deep forest. You can pick out larches by look at pic of Boris on the griz, taken from the back. They are yellow needles vs the evergreens.

1st and 3rd pic are a front paw.
2nd pic is a rear paw slipping and sinking in mud.
