Boring

Anyone else think there just isn’t enough information/reviews out on the S1000? I understand it was released at the same time as the turbo and that over shadowed it but I would have guess by now this forum would have been blowing up!

Is everyone just going with the Xp1000 due to the prices actually being lower than the S?

Is there really anything that the S can do that the Xp can’t do better?

Figured there would be a lot more excitement about this model.

Clutch/Belt issues with new 1000 S

Hello everyone, I just bought a new 1000 S. Glad to join the small group here. Had a Rhino since 2005 and finally took the leap. I mainly do trails in Moab.

I have a couple questions you all more familiar with Polaris may have ideas on.

1. The clutch seems a little jerky in reverse especially at lower rpm. Is this normal? It is very different than the Rhino every where in that the rpms come up quite a way before engaging. However reverse seems even more strange with the jerkiness.

2. I burnt a belt already. Got a little smoke and can see the sides of the belt grooved and glazed in a spot. Working on repalcing and the manual talks about ebs vs non-ebs. For ebs it says to use the clutch spreader tool to open the clutch. For non-ebs it says to loosen the nut to spread the clutch I am unsure which method to use. It sure feels like I have engine braking, but the web site says I dont. I am wondering if anyone knows for sure the best way to open the clutch on this to remove/replace the belt.

Top speed and Max RPM’s

Can anybody comment on the top speed of the 1000s and the RPM’s at top speed? How does it compare to the 900s top speed and RPM’s? Also, which machine do you think would get better mileage cruising at 50 mph on gravel roads?

Looking for new wheels and tires options?

i am looking for a new set up, how big of tires can i go with out rubbing? should i stay away from a really aggressive tire so i dont tare stuff up in the drive train? definitely going to go with a 14in wheel. Pictures and opinions of set ups on your 1000s are appreciated. thanks

1000s on hills

So in my tough decision on a 1000S or a 1000xp. Has anyone compared the handling on steep inclines. I know obviously the xp would be better due to the length. But how dramatic would it be in the difference. Anyone done some serious climbing with the 1000S?
