2013 XP 900 oil fill cap

I often thought the oil cap on my Jagged X did not fit very tight or well; it just seemed that not alot of force was needed to screw and unscrew the cap. Well, with my recent dirt injestion problems, you can imagine i am looking everywhere for a root cause since i do not believe dust got into the intake.

After some research, it seems others have had the same concerns as me, and low and behold, Polaris now has a new part number for the oil cap and from my brief internet research, the new one supposedly fits much tighter. $28 for the cap; i have purchased one as i do not want to do this rebuild again anytime soon. I would always see a little bit of sand and dirt inside the oil cap and that worried me. It looks like Polaris recognized there is an issue.

XP900 burns oil, no cold idle, and low compression

I just bought an xp900 for my wifes new xmas present it was super clean and has low miles. Rode it once and found oil 1/2 quart low. Changed oil and took out this weekend and found that it is burning about 1/2 quart every 20 miles of easy riding. Engine also has idle problems when cold and likes to die, I did a compression test today and found driver side cylinder about 40psi cold, and 70 psi hot, passenger side was about 210psi both hot and cold. Intake is very clean with no signs of dirt or debris.

I have read where others have had issues with valves being to tight, will this cause these issues and make the engine burn oil?

synthetic oil life

Hi: Thru the years, extremely long oil life was a major factor in promoting synthetic oil. Out of curiosity, I am wondering why the recommended oil change for the 900 rzr is 1000 miles? I have a road bike with a 1300 cc engine and the recommended change is 8,000 miles and that’s with regular quality oil. This subject has probably been beat to death (along with a lot of others) but I’m new to rzrs and this forum. Thanks.

Cam swap 900s to JX

Has anyone by chance tried swapping a set of jagged x 900xp cams in to a 2015 900s? Curious if this setup with work as I have a set of JX cams sitting on my kitchen table and my 900s isn’t out of warranty yet. Specifics would be nice if know they will physically fit but will it cause valve train interference with the Pistons due to more lift and how close to stock is the lobe separation ect. Thanks all

New build and engine codes

Just got my 2012 xp900 engine back from Alba with a stage 2 build, got everything reassembled and bike wont run for more then 10 seconds. Engine light on, Code 102-4, searched around and found some harness issues, as far as I can tell no broken wires. But Im also not sure Im looking in the right area, any help??

Clearing trouble codes

The wire from my speed sensor came unplugged.
I’m assuming that’s what caused the trouble codes that relate to the speed sensor.
I plugged it back in but the codes don’t go away.
Should they clear on their own when the problem is fixed or do I need to clear them?
Do I need the digital wrench to clear them or can I do it without?
If so, how?
Thanks,
Dan

Stretched timing chain???

I am trying to finish my Alba big bore and cam installation. I’m having issues with the timing. It’s like there is too much slack in my timing chain. When I get everything lined up then remove the cam holding tool the manual says to rotate the engine and make sure everything lines up again. At this point in the installation the chain isn’t tight enough and it skips teeth on the cam gears when I rotate the engine. The only way I can get it to stay put is to install the timing chain tensioner at this point prior to rotating the engine. Problem is the manual doesn’t say to install the tensioner until after this point. Am I missing something or is my timing chain stretched?
