I looked at a used 2012 rzr 570 today at a Honda dealer that was traded in on a new Honda 500 sxs. It had upgraded tires on stock wheels as it’s only upgrade. 187 hrs and 1300 miles. There was a lot of scratches and the bottom had gouges in the plastic skid plates. I opened the air box and found some hard dry dirt/dust in the bottom. The filter was pretty clean though not new. It ran ok and didn’t smoke. Had a good idle and steering was tight. They came down to $6400 out the door. Since I was out of state they would not collect sales tax, I would have to pay that in my state when I registered it later.
So the scratches were minor, but the dirt in the air box is scary. I did wipe my finger into the throttle body and it came out clean. There wasn’t much dirt in the box and what was there was hard. Like it had been wet and hardened.
I don’t know if I should walk away from this or not. What say you?
Last time i got out with the RZR, I got VERY lost in the Ozark national forest in Arkansas. I had no cell reception and the map I was carrying got ruined by rain! Thankfully I figured my way out by shear luck, but as soon as i got back, i started searching for a cheap "backcountry" GPS devices. I’d love to have the Lowrance GPS but $800 is almost a superatv "S" conversion (priorities right?!)!
Several months ago I tinkered around with a Raspberry Pi to make a cheap HTPC (home theater PC). For those of you that don’t know, a Raspberry Pi is a credit card–sized single-board computer initially designed to be a cheap platform for teaching basic computer science in schools. For only $35, you get a capable computer with HDMI out, internet connectivity, and USB ports. It’s open source meaning the source code is freely available and may be redistributed and modified.
Yesterday i started researching if i could use my Raspberry Pi to make a homemade GPS device for the RZR. I don’t care about ‘turn by turn’ trail directions or 3d mapping. I just want to be able to plot my trucks LatLong and have the RaspPi tell me which direction to travel (N,S,E,W) and the distance back. Well, i found this GPS attachment for the RasPi from Adafruit (geek site):
It’s an incredibility sensitive GPS unit that can plug directly into the Raspberry Pi.
For the screen, i decided to use a OLED (like an E-reader) to be easly visible in direct sun, like the one below. I could mount the screen directly in the dash.
I’m still researching the inputs, like buttons or possibly a remote? And i’ll also need to figure out the GUI. I figured i’d start a post and keep track of the project in case someone else is interested! Stay tuned.
New to the forum 14 570 not to many accessories yet but coming along. Rt 2 inch lift 29.5 tires Polaris roof home made tower speakers bar and cheap speakers. Snorkels and front sway bar removed
Ok What’s the best fitting air filter (brand ) to use on a 2014 570.
I just purchase a 2014 118 miles on it I have read all the bad so last night I decieded to check it out. Damm! what a major screw up by Polaris.
I’m glad it only had that milage on it, or I’d probably be doing a top end or whatever.:rm_thumbdown:
This is what I did last night after cleaning the air box and intakes tube
Lightweight aluminum chassis
Turbocharged/intercooled reinforced 570 engine with 75 HP
Ultraplush suspension with electronic settings for aggressive driving
Factory suspension lift for extra ground clearance
Custom lightweight aluminum wheels with quality radial tires
air suspension seats
Turf mode and engine braking
Factory LED or HID lighting
Factory full skid plates
lightweight carbon fiber doors
Please build this Polaris!
I started my budget build on my kids 570. I’m trying to make as much of it as I can my self. I pretty much finished building the cage and the full folding windshield just needs some finishing touches. Roof, rear window, doors and long travel suspension still on the to do list.

I have had my rzr 570 for 3 years until recently it ran great. Having the following issue with 2012 RZR 570 (stock). It seems to runs all day until you get the rpm’s up high. If you get the rpm’s (over 6300 best I can tell) it starts to surge then will cough and/or backfire (sometimes dies) . If you fully depress the pedal it will cough, backfire and die. When it dies sometimes you have to wait a minute or two as when you turn the key you don’t get anything (nothing -no fuel pump priming etc.) I have checked the fuel pressure and it stays at 45 psi period regardless of rpms (up to at least 6000 sitting still) using the $20 harbor freight gauge. There have also been times it has died when coasting too (rare but did occurs.
I have changed the spark plug, checked the exhaust (spark arrestor totally clean), checked the air box, air intake hose, and air filter(all clean). Unhooked battery cables and cleaned. Going to dump the gas and spray carb cleaner on throttle body next.
I have read previous posts about the fuel controller resolving back fire issues and could gladly purchase an Alba controller if it resolved the issue but since it ran fine for 3 years ?????
Anyone else have any suggestions???:sad::sad::sad:
