Drive fuse blown

Hey there!
2010 Xp model keeps blowing drive fuse as soon as I switch into all wheel drive. Switch checks out fine and both coils ohm as per specs in manual. I followed the wires the best I could and see no trouble. Is it possible to have a bad coil in the front differential that still ohms properly?
Thanks! I’m stumped!

550 click after draining battery

I unwittingly (stupid, I know) left the key on my 13 550 eps 4×4. Drained the battery…really dead. I put a charge on it for a few hours and it didn’t improve.

I figured I toasted the battery so I unhooked everything and pulled it out. Decided to charge it on the bench for 24 hours. Low and behold, it charged. I hooked everything back up (winch, handwarmers) and all I got was one click. Just hooked up the positive and negative from the wiring harnesses. (2 positive and 2 negative). all I got was one click. everything powers up fine…. fuel pump, headlights, winch works…hit the key…one click.

I turned on the lights and tried to start it to check for a drain but the lights didn’t dim and one click. tried neutral….one click.

Finally, I found the starter relay (right wheel well) and turned the key while touching the relay. I can feel it click one time…each time I try. I tried to jump the relay but it didn’t do anything..no click…

LONG story short (sorry)…Could that relay be bad or one of the relays under the front cab? I don’t want to just start throwing parts at it….

thanks for any help…

Jerry

15/16 sportsman 850 SP cv shaft

Hey guys, had a friend of mine break a cv shaft on his 2015 850 sp plowing snow. Machine is completely stock. I just bought a 2016 850 SP and had heard through the grape vine the 16 model had heavier cv shafts. Is there any truth to that or is that a gimmick?
Just curious as to what you guys thought. Thanks for any help!

Long drives then acts up and dies

Hey everyone, havent owned my 2012 850xp for very long and although its a used bike its been great so far until the other day. We went for a long drive about 3 or 4 hours in my bike started to die, started to get low power then eventually no power and would just die out. If i gave it more gas it would just backfire. The weird thing is i could start it up and all my powers back and works great till i get going again then same thing dies out. So what i did to get it home was just ease on the throttle to speed up and once i was going a decent speed kept it there and i had no issues.

The next day i took it out for a spin and all was great. like nothing happened, so we went for a decent drive and yet again after a few hours it started to work like crap.

All i have done so far is replaced the spark plugs, which were pretty black. Havent gone on a big run yet with the new plugs because we got another snow storm and the snows getting to deep now.

If you guys have any suggestions on what it could be that would be great. Would rather fix it now while the snows here so it can be operational for the spring.

Front storage box mounting question

I just picked up the Polaris #2877951 front storage box and for the front mounting brackets there are several different pieces enclosed, and no instructions. Anybody have any help for me to figure out how the front pieces all go together? It’s for a 2012 XP850 if it matters.

HIGH Altitude riding – Rockies

So I recently moved from Minnesota to Colorado and gotta say the riding out here is unbelievable. Steep, Rocky and technical so makes for fun and challenging riding. I have several questions for riding at high altitude.

1- really down on power at 10-13K feet compared to sea level. I have a 2010 and 2014 850 XP’s. I have 26 and 27 inch tires on the machines and also have an EPI clutch on the 2010 as well as an aftermarket exhaust ( swamp series exhaust ) and the 2014 is very stock except for QSC clutch and 26 inch tires ( Kenda Bearclaw HTR II) .

2 – right gas to use ? 91, 87 or 85 octane ??

3- gas additives to deal with all the ethanol is this colorado fuel ??

4 Octane booster of ANY value ?

5 – Air Filters ? Any value at altitude ?

6 – 2014 850 XP – I installed a QSC clutch from Ryan in MN, great guy… I got a little stiffer spring and lightened up the keys to 57.5 Grams and it seems to be more responsive.

7 – Sparkplugs – I am running the laser NGK in both machines.

Any help from all you high altitude riders is greatly appreciated.
