Hello,
A buddy of mine just picked up a 2002 sportsman 500 HO that has a Glacier I plow and mount. He’s looking to sell it and I’m looking for one but don’t know if the mount will fit on my 2012 sportsman 500 HO.
The front end of these 2 wheelers is very different with the winches and radiators in totally different locations.
Just how much I love my goddarn ATV? I just looked at a picture of it, the day I bought it and brought it home. All washed and looking awesome, shiny, new, bad-ass.
It must be a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder. It has been at a friend’s shop for a few weeks now and I am really starting to miss it.
I think that, when I get it back from the shop, we’re going on a heck of a ride.
OK feel free to laugh and poke good humored fun at this one. I did my first oil change on my 2014 400 HO today. Got the filter off and replaced it no problem, the moved confidently on to the drain plug. This is where you get to laugh, I removed the bolt almost directly below the filter. As I am removing said bolt I am thinking this is a dumb place to put the drain plug it’s right over the bottom engine guard. I get the bolt out and discover it is hollow with a small hole in the end and very little oil is coming out. I immediately replace the bolt and start looking around. Wouldn’t you know it right there behind the front wheel at the base of the oil tank is another bolt. I think I might be on to something here so I proceed to remove this bolt. As soon as I remove the bolt oil comes gushing out and I see this bolt has a magnet on the end. After draining the oil and cleaning the bolt off I put everything back together and filled it with oil. I started it up and all appears to be well. The question is did I screw up anything by removing that first bolt and do I have to perform the priming ritual that I understand is a pain in the back side.
All, Needing some help… While riding over the weekend, during a short break went to start the atv back up and It started but smoked boiled out from main center housing. The ignition is now shot and the Brown wire burned all the insulation off down to the first splice housing. It’s been garage kept and has low miles, I’m the original owner, Hate to see her go…
Questions:
1. What could have caused it?
2. How hard could it be to fix?
3. Replace the brown wire and ignition? or the entire wiring harness?
Hi all, I smashed my ’04 500 HO nto a tree stump and need to replace the A Arm. Anyone know if newer sportsman a arms will fit? Like from a 2014? They look identical but have a zerk fitting, which I could see as a plus. Thanks!
I have tried double nutting the stud but that doesn’t seem to be the way to remove these mounts? I need to get at the case bolt but don’t have a swivel 13 mm socket, just in case you are wondering why I would want to remove this.
Are these machines based on the same frame?
Looking at picking up a cheap touring to swap all the plastics over to my X2 and vise versa, if it’s even possible
thanks
Hello all I recently just bought an 05 700 EFI Dale jr edition with 500 miles and 70 hours in great shape! I’m considering wrapping it in camo but wanted to see if anyone has a complete set of camo plastics for the 05 EFI that they want to part with. I would like to put the Dale jr plastics up in storage and keep them as pristine as they are! Thanks in advance!
I have a 99 sportsman 500 with a 40 millimeter carburetor on it. With the four wheeler in neutral and I tried to give it gas it sputters and bogs down. As I take the lid and air filter off it’s somewhat straightens out. But as soon as I put the air filter on again, it starts to act up. The exhaust coming off of the thing. Took off the spark plug and it is black as the ace of spades. I completely rebuilt the carburator last year. Took apart the carburetor again last night and everything looks clean, this one has got me pretty stumped, any advice would be helpful
thanks
