This is an efi system will start sometime and not others. What am mean will not start will just click starter. Checked starter it is fine. The efi box seems to be working also. My concern is the silver box under front rack. How do you check it to see if working properly or can you any help would be great full thanks in advance

Hey guys. I have a 2006 Polaris Sportsman that have been fighting for two years now. I have had a lot of issues with this ATV and do not know what else to do.

I have always had an issue with getting it to run for more then a couple days :motz:

I have just replaced the t-bap as I read this is common. I had codes (41 & 45).replaced the t-bap and codes are gone. I was having issues idleing and it was hesitant when I would throttle up as well. the codes are gone but all of my symptoms are still here as well as now I can not get it to start.

issues are:
– running very rich
– dying out at idle
– does not want to start (backfiring)
– when it was running the throttle response was bad
– would hesitate when accelerating

I have a trip next weekend and I would hate to cancel it. PLEASE HELP!!!

Brn to Y = 5.4 min; 7.3 max (6.8)
Brn to Ground = 0

Trigger Coil
Blk to R 360 to 410 (380)
Blk to Ground – No connection

Battery Charge Coil – Where is this?
Y to Y/R – 0.15 min – 0.20 max
Y to Ground – No connection

Ignition Coil – Again where?
Without Caps – 1800 min; 2400 max
With Caps – 12000

What does w/ or w/o caps mean?

Front Wheel Drive Coil – Where?
GRY to BRN/W – 24 ohms
Gry to Ground – No connection

I have a 1996 sportsman 400 4×4 and I have went thru 2 plastic reels both breaking where the ratchet is attached. Everything looks ok the engine runs great. Just wondering if anyone has ran into this kind of problem before? I bought the part thru Orange custom cycle and they are sending a replacement reel, just don’t want to break another one. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks Travis

So, I recently snapped the reverse chain on my 850. Had it replaced. Now, there are a lot of factors here that I will tell you about, but I am trying to narrow it down. Really hoping it’s not what I think it is.

My guy calls me and says it’s done. I send my buddy to go get it, and everything works. He takes it to my other friend’s house for me to pick up. Meanwhile, this other friend drives it through a pit in his yard and everything works. While he is gone, a different friend drives it and gets stuck. He claims that once he was stuck he stopped and pulled it out with his truck. Says he never used reverse.

I get on it the next day, and reverse doesn’t work.

I know for a fact that reverse worked when friend #1 picked it up. I trust friend #2 when he says everything worked when he rode it. I’m not so sure friend #3 is being truthful, especially considering the amount of mud the 4 wheeler was covered in. Mud was packed under the front rack and in every nook and cranny. 2 hours worth of pressure washing and there’s still mud on it.
This leads me to believe that friend #3 may be leaving important parts of the story out.

Is it possible something went wrong with the install even though it worked fine when it was picked up?
