Tires 27x10x14 on all corners on a Touring 1000

I have a 2016 Touring XP 1000 on order and would like to know the Pros and Cons of running the same size tire on all four corners. The size I would like to go with is 27x10x14 which is an inch wider in the front and inch slimmer in the rear. Do Ya’ll think this will cause any problems? If anyone is riding with this set up I would appreciate your input. As of now my tire selection is the Interco Super Swamper Radial ATV tire.

Drive sprocket size?

I have an sp xp1000 with camoplast t4s tracks, previously used on my sp 850xp.

Question is; what drive sprocket size is recommended to the 1000xp close ratio awd?

I have 18teeth in front and 17teeth on back, and it feels like the awd is engaging at all time when using tracks.

GSE exhaust baffles!

ok.. so i purchased the GSE Trail Tamer exhaust for my 2015 Sportsman 1000XP. I installed the slip on which looks great for the money vs others.. only to resolve the heat issues with these machines which it does! However the muffler is quite a bit louder than the stock muffler which I didn’t like. So what i did was called the company and asked if there was any options to quiet it down. Unfortunately all that is available is the spark arrestors which the company said will quiet it a little. So I purchased and installed them which did help some. I was still wanting a quieter option so kept browsing the web.

I came across an old yamaha Rhino forum. Folks on there purchased scotch brite pot scrubbing material and put them inside the actual muffler of they’r Rhinos. So I figured I would give it a try for 1.89 at my local dollar general store. So I purchased 1 2 pack of stainless steal scotch brite pan scrubbers that are shaped like a round donut which is basically a bunch of wire wound into a ball.. you get the idea..

I removed my spark arrestors and slid 1 scotch brite into each of the dual exhaust holes just far enough in to get spark arrestors back in place. started up the machine and now have a noticeable reduction in exhaust sound, but still sounds good! As far as long term durability.. I cant say.. but being that our machines run lean from the factory, and a slip on flows much easier than stock, a little back pressure should be fine. I did ride the machine for about 20 minutes and didn’t notice anything different other than a more reasonable exhaust.

steering play in handle bars side to side on 1000XP

I have read through a bunch of different stuff to try and solve my steering play issues. I have the new designed pinch bolt@ the bottom of the power steering shaft. I have checked it and the pinch bolt is very tight @ both the bottom and the top of the power steering box. I also replaced all the tie rod ends just in case the very small amount of movement was causing my 1" of handle bar movement. It didn’t make much of a difference.. so I believe that I am getting the play @ the bottom of the power steering shaft where the pinch bolt is.. must be it just wore the female spline over the 800 miles? any other ideas or things for me to check ?

1000 XP rear suspension crunch

I purchased my machine used from dealer with 800 miles on it. I have noticed that the rear suspension feels really stiff! Also it makes alot of crunching noise if I push down on it… which doesn’t seam normal to me. I have already adjusted the shocks down to 1 from the softest setting and it didn’t make a difference. Any ideas?

Xp1000 hard steering.

Hi guys!

I find my sportsman xp 1000 2015 hard to steer.
Eps is vorking, but the steering is much harder than the 2012 xp850 when awd is engaged. Feels like the awd "engages" at all times, Especially when using tracks. (Wheels 18front and 17back.)
i understand that tracks make steering harder, but its still a huge difference to the 850 i ran before, same track kit, same setup. I’ve red that awd egaging is faster from year-15 and up. Is there a possibility that the drive wheels should be all in size 18 teeth on the 2015 and up? Thanks in advance.

Maintenance Needs

I’ve had my XP 1000 for about 5 months now. I haven’t had any issues with it up until now. I took it carefully through the break-in period and have baby’d it since. My daughter made the mistake of giving the key to a friend with impulse control who opted to do wheelies and act foolish. I care for my stuff and like it to last. If anybody is going to act a fool and break it, it should be me. Right? So, the issue that has come up is that it started to loose power when I hit the throttle and then started sputtering and backfiring. It would sputter when I apply the throttle and begin to backfire as the RPMs wound down. An experienced "two-stroke" friend suggested grabbing some fuel treatment carb cleaner and running it through. No luck. Now it dies almost immediately after starting the engine.

So two questions:

1. Has anyone experienced this and found a solution?

2. Are there any websites that show how to service the XP 1000 on your own in order to familiarize one’s self with general maintenance and upkeep?

Caveat: Are there any good articles or websites that talk about upgrades and mods for the XP 1000?

New 1000 XP Touring w/question

Proud new owner of a 2015 Sportsman XP 1000 Bronze Mist! Already have the Ricochet Armor kit on the way. I also have a 2011 Sportsman XP 850 Touring….hence a question. On the 850, when I remove the back seat, I have a storage bin that fills in the hole. So far, not been able to find the same thing for the 1000….any leads????
Taking it out trail riding tomorrow, going to kill me not being able to unleash the beast for 20 hours!!
