1000 LE First ride

Got the machine home after purchase and had glowing muffler issues after 3 miles. Took it up to northern Minnesota for a 3 day ride last weekend. First ride out both times we stopped I had burning leaves next to the exhaust. Got paranoid and spent the first day constantly checking (last thing I want to do is start the woods on fire) Once I got enough mud packed in there no more issues. Let my dealer know about it he is going to contact Polaris. Other than that all I can say is WOW !!! What a machine, came off my 850 and can not believe the power on this monster. Along with the Fox shocks it is an awesome beast and a lot of fun to ride. Can’t wait for the next outing

Stock LED headlight upgrade

I searched this section and a few others before I found the harness part numbers that would make the whole system work plug and play on my 2015 Sportsman 1000 xp. The Polaris wiring harness part number I found to use the stock polaris LED headlights was 2878624, that was just for the harness. It basically plugs into your stock wiring with no cutting or splicing of wires. I have full function of the high and low beam lights in the LED’s through the stock handle bar light switch. Super simple install. One end of the harness plugs into one of your stock low beam wires and another end goes up to your headlight on your handle bars to tap the high beam. It comes with a double connector plug to go in line of your light.

The headlights mount in the stock location to tabs already molded in the plastic with 3 screws and a spring between the headlight and plastic.

If anyone needs pictures or has questions post up and I’ll do my best to answer them. I bought the lights new from my dealer that were for a 2014 850 xp with eps part number 2878542. The harness I found on amazon but I’ve seen them on ebay too which again was part number 2878624

Edit for prices: the harness I got off Amazon was 49.99 and I bought my lights from the dealer they were I believe 449.99. You could save a lot of money on the lights with some used take offs on someones RZR or Scrammbler from what I read. I wanted new parts though cause i’m picky.

Also a note: You do not cut or damage the stock light harness in any way so it is totally possible to put it back to the stock housings and wiring if you desired. I was really happy with the light output of the LED’s and one HID bulb in the stock handle bar light. I mainly wanted the LED’s because I feel the HID’s can be unreliable and they are instant on and off vs HID’s

My Sportsman 1000-Picture thread.

Hey guys, for a few of you that have asked for pictures here they are. Not too often do I have time to wax and polish her like I did today. As I continue to mod my bike I will update this thread. 30" tires should be next… Enjoy…
EDIT- she just hit 55hrs and 400 miles (and all warning labels removed from paint.)

Noise from rear

Just finished up ridding 30 miles today and my buddy told me that my Polaris is making a weird noise coming from the back end of the atv. I also can notice the noise at around 15 mph or greater and it’s not the tires but it’s a humming noise. Is this normal on the 1000XP? I have 220 miles on it and 18 hours so far. The only thing I can guess is the rear differential. Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Ground Clearance

I just got a 1000 touring model. The ground clearance is measuring at 8.5", published is 11.25. I measured it on level ground next to a 2015 570 touring with both the published measurements in hand. The 570 was off by about a 1/2 inch. Mine was off by almost 3". Also the seat height is 2" lower than listed online. Anyone have an idea of why? My shocks are set at the softest/lowest setting. Can this account for 3" of ground clearance?
