Hey everyone
I’m looking for some real hands on advice on what sort of rear seat i should get for my 1K sportsman. I mostly ride on my own so that’s why I bought the 1up but i hade the option of taking a little girl 10 year old out and i turned it down because i dont have safe seating for her. So what is the best rear seat that " Lock and ride " on the back of the Sportsman XP 1000 1 Up. Or if not lock and ride the best safe and ezy to remove seat.
Thanks
Clicked mile 1000 on my Sportsman 1000 XP and still love it… I’ll give a quick review and my thoughts on this machine…. the power is unbelievable, the ride is great, love the response from the throttle especially since I put the clutch kit in. The sound of the engine is sexy and feels solid. My plastics above my muffler does get hot…at times…too hot to touch…. no glowing muffler or melting plastics… yet… I have run her hard in some warm Temps and you can really tell the heat from the muffler then. She’s been alot of fun and really woke up around mile 300 and then again mile 700….overall I’m very happy and hopefully won’t have any melting plastics as a few have had. If you’re looking for a big bore that really brings the mail, LOOK NO FURTHER
What are you guys running for a mirror? The county I live in is going to pass law where we can ride gravel roads legally and it sounds like will have to have a mirror on atv.
Hi everyone I’ve just picked up the new Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 one out of the first container to hit Australia so anyway im trying to find out if there is a difference between the 850 and the 1000. I want to get a Iron boltic bash plate the bloke here says he doesn’t have plates for the 1000 so im hopping the 850 is the same. I’d say the only difference would be in the oil drain plug? I hope there is no difference.
I just noticed that the rear springs are different on the 1k’s than the 850’s. I’m not sure if it’s only a 1k change or if the 15 850’s are different as well. They seem to be a weaker spring my Terms almost rub on my 1K but I had 30’s on my 14 850 with room to spare.

hey guys with the 1000 sportsman after you ride for quite awhile stop and get off and feel the drive axles going out to the wheels form the rear diff, mine is hot to the touch on the muffler side, I am just wondering if it is the Muffler causing it to be hot or do I have a bearing going out, the diff itself is not hot, just trying to find out if it is hot because of the muffler
Well, after noticing that my exhaust tends to get red hot with any riding over 30 MPH, I had another issue occur this weekend that almost resulted in a fire. It appears that the top spring that holds the exhaust to the head pipe gave out at some point during the ride (I’m guessing because of the excessive heat). We were riding only fire roads – no rough trails or anything. I didn’t notice the exhaust issue until it was almost too late. I noticed a "whooshing" sound coming from the engine going up hills or under load, but didn’t think much of it. Turns out that was from the exhaust being separated from the head pipe because there was now a missing spring. I was then riding on a flat fire road, and started feeling a LOT of heat on the exhaust side of the wheeler. I slowed down/stopped to investigate, and was immediately hit with a burning plastic smell. Looked down to see the plastics smoldering/dripping. A tiny fire had started. I got a towel and took my drinking water and wet the towel down and smothered the flames. Needless to say, I’ll now be carrying a fire extinguisher with me at all times on this quad… I’ll be dropping it off this evening and seeing what the dealer can do for me. It’s still under warranty. 260 miles or so, and around 16 hours.
