Tipped my Touring this weekend……<sigh>….

Same trails I’ve been riding forever….not too fast..nothing I haven’t done riding double on my 450 Foreman…

Had the bride on the back (not a heavy woman) and it tipped to the right turning, climbing a minor hill. I fell right off and the bike caught a 3" tree on the right fender before it went completely over…good thing. I wrenched my leg and the wife is fine…thank God.

I guess I learned a lesson. I’m not hot dog either..especially riding double.

I’ll be more careful in the future…I guess these things are a tad top heavy…

Oh well….life goes on and all is well.

Winch advice!

Alright I am ready to buy a winch and I have been looking at Viper. Anyone have any feed back on quality and install difficulty? I am considering the midnight series w/ synthetic cable. Thanks in advance.

Help me diagnose this

2014 Sportsman base model, 1100 miles

Notice that I have a decent amount of negative camber in the rear wheels, but the left wheel has quite a bit more than the other. I don’t see anything bent or out of place on the suspension at all…

So I assume that it is probably just a combination of all the play in the bearings and bushings? I already had to replace them at about 600 miles, so I guess it is due for another set?

Or is there something else I need to check before I start ordering parts?

570 Headlight Question

I have a 2014 Sportsman 570, and I am wanting to know if the headlights out of a Razr will bolt up to it? I have my headlights sent off having halos and LED’s put in them, and need some used ones for temporary. Any help is much appreciated!

Brand new 570 with fuel leak

Just bought a 2015 Sportsman 570 EFI. Has 4.9 hours on it and today I noticed fuel dripping from the frame under the front. Anyone else had this issue? It was coming from the area in the picture. It wasn’t much but still shouldn’t be happening. Will any Polaris dealership honor warranty or does it have to go back were I bought it?

Oil pan removal – future nightmare for all who do their own service

/rant

So, to my delight, I am in the process of removing my oil pan. Let me start by venting on the absolutely ingenious (sarcasm strongly added) design Polaris put into this one. I started my day by doing my yearly oil change service. Upon putting the drain plug back in it went in relatively easy, but decided it wouldn’t like to tighten fully. I attempted to remove the drain plug and it now won’t come out. To my dismay, somehow without putting any force into it I stripped the threads on the oil pan. Great, right? Now I have to pull the entire motor in order to remove the oil pan. Wouldn’t be so bad if there were any instructions related to this anywhere on the internet. I’ve pretty much gotten to the point where I am going to go buy a service manual. This also sucks because I have literally removed everything I’ve needed to for removing the engine except the back of the belt case. Any quick suggestions for removing the belt pulley’s would be greatly appreciated as it will save me some money.

On a side note, and to save future headaches, I am going to suck it up and make the Polaris dealer do my oil changes because I can see this being a recurring problem with the extremely soft magnesium oil pan threads.

Oh well, when this is done and over with I am only out $108 for parts and probably 5-6 hours of my life (better than the $450 the dealer wanted to do it).

Again any information on removing the pulley’s would be greatly appreciated.

Belt housing moves?

Hey guys, just doing a service on my 570 and noticed if i grab my bely housing around the exhaust snorkel near the front of the housing i can move it in and out from the motor a 1/2" or so, is this normal or should it be tight to the motor? There seems to ne some sort of boot at the back where the crankshaft goes through. Could somebody try theres and let me know?

oil fill?

I’m doing the first oil change on my 570, I don’t have my manual with me , this might sound stupid but where do you fill it is it on top of the engine or do you fill at the dipstick? Thanks:hmmm:
