DurhamTown Tellico Ride Labor day 2015

Got a chance to ride DT tellico one last time before they closed down. My brother in law was able to tag along riding my brother’s old Foreman 500. We was able to cover around 42 miles of riding. On’y got a little video, but I was able to coach him on his first technical ride! For his first time he did real good, didn’t give up! He did tip it over crossing a log though, no damage to him or the ATV though!

Ouray Co Sept 2015

I have a few pics of our trip, Riders include Ridgway, Jason, and me. I will have video, just takes some time to edit.

We all know Ridgway, Jason is a friend from Eastern KY on a Honda with 11000 miles. I am on my new red Grizzly. I rode more miles in one week with Ridgway than I have in the last two years.

I misplaced the camera early on but found it when I got home.

Photographs do not do this ride justice. I will post a few of them then enter some comments about them.

THE POUGHKEEPSIE GULCH TRAIL…..

After several mountain pass crossings the first day, with elevations from 7000 ft. to 13,200 ft., we decided to take a shortcut up the Poughkeepsie Gulch.
One the first day, we traveled above the E.P.A. debacle to run into hunters stalking deer. We decided to take lunch and while stopped at 11,000 ft. watched 2 eagles chase 4 Mule Deer bucks back and forth across a rock glacier.
If the deer didn’t run, the eagles tried to bite or scratch them to cause a crippling wound, but running across those rocks on the side hill could break a leg. We didn’t have the right video/camera equipment to get a shot, but it was something you don’t see every day. Those eagles chased the deer a 1/2 mile one way, then back.
And at the top of Poughkeepsie there was another strange story.
Here is the bottom half while the second video is loading…

ROCK GLACIER RIDING on BROWN’S MOUNTAIN…..

Dr. Mud and Jason decided to experience the early September fall colors while riding the high country of the San Juan Mountains in South Western Colorado.
This was from the first morning.
We got near the top before coming to a slide across the trail preventing us from going the last couple hundred feet to the top, but I think they got the point. Jason commented it was a long way down without a tree to break the fall, but the Dr.’s prescription was jump quickly near the top.

This was from the turn around,

and this is near the top,

ATTENTION…DOES ANYONE RECOGNIZES THESE TWO?

Before the long months of cabin fever set in, I thought a last spin around the mountains was in other.
The hunting season is on, and there are strange cats running around everywhere. The only place its safe is in town with the abandoned wives, they’re ready to PARTYYYYYY.
These two guys have been showing up at the trail head the last couple mornings, I think they are lost. One keeps blocking the trail with a red bike carrying red gas cans and black suit case looking thing strapped across the rear rack. The other guy must be related as you never see them more than 20 ft. apart. Neither seem to be arms, so may not eat well this winter.
In Colorado, we have the Buck Skin network, sponsored by the Colorado Division of Wildlife, which is a place wives can call to report their husbands that won’t/don’t come home after the hunt.
These two may be from the Oklahoma or Arkansas areas, looking for a homestead and a fresh start here.
Please post back any reward information concerning the return of these two, individually or as a pair. Is anyone’s looking for them? Does ANYONE miss them? ANYONE…..
They seem nice enough, and should make a nice addition to anyone’s family if adoptions becomes necessary. We have till midnight Thurs. to place them, before Social Services must be called. I don’t want to turn them into the People Control Unit.

Wolf Pen Gap in Mena, AR 2015

As many of you know, I went on a trip to Wolf Pen Gap. I had some "issues" while I was there but it was a good trip and we had lots of fun with some great folks. We had a group of about 15 people. Mostly SxS’s. My wife and I were on wheelers until the end of day 1 when I rolled my Griz ("Houston… We have a problem…"). It was no longer rideable, so my plan was to jump into a RZR that had space but the wife wanted to rent one. I really didn’t want to spend the money so I laid down the law and then promptly rented a RZR for the following two days. Pics are coming…

Honda whips Grizzlies with Pic’s for Trev

Honda vs one Griz… Honda 1 Grizzly 0

Honda Vs 2 Grizzlies…Honda 2 Grizzly 0… I busted my hitch off here.

Honda vs 3 Grizzlies..Honda 3 Grizzly 0

This honda was buried in modeling clay like pottery clay. It was sucked in where the wheels couldn’t turn. It stalled in gear apparently they won’t start in gear at least this one wouldn’t. After not moving him an inch. I had to go around to the side and winch him sideways until it popped enough to get it in to neutral and started. Then one Grizz with a snap rope and the guy burning the tires off and three guys lifting the front. Finally the suction broke. Seven 700 Grizzlies, one 450 grizzly and another Honda plowed across that clay. What happened with this cat?

PS: that red 08 700 has over 17000 miles on it. Just a stator and a couple wheel bearings.
